The sales rep called and attempted to renew advertising that I had last year which did not deliver the results I expected. After multiple conversations with sales rep Brock Dekok, he convinced me that the advertising would work better this year and was less expensive. I expressed concerns that my ad would be too far down the page to be of value, which is an issue that I had the previous year. I told him that I would be interested in trying again, if the ad could be in the first or second position on the page. Brock assured me that if I paid for extra options, that my ad would be in the desired position.
My contract states that I was to receive an ad on YP.com and the ad would be shown in the "St. Louis Mega Zone" which includes the St. Louis metro area, including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, The St. Charles area, and the metro east area in Illinois. The ad was to include a red highlighted listing, and a coupon. These extra options were supposed to increase my position on the page.
My contract states that the advertising would begin on 5/01/2013.
As of 6/04/2013, my ad was still not running and I contacted Brock to inform him of this.
When the advertising did start, the ad was shown only in the St. Louis City and County area. The ad was shown without the coupon which resulted in the ad having a lower position on the page. I made multiple attempts to contact Brock in order to get the problems fixed but my phone calls and emails were not returned.
During this time, YP continued to bill the account.
After several weeks of the sales rep not returning my calls or emails, I called YP customer service who put me through to Brocks manager. After leaving a voicemail with the manager, Brock finally returned my call. At this time I demanded that the ads be taken down and my account cleared of any charges. Brock said this would be no problem.
YP continues to attempt to collect on the account. I repeatedly explained the situation and each time was told that they would take care of it yet they continue to call stating the account is past due and threatening to damage my credit. The calls are becoming more threatening and rude.
I did not receive the product as described in our contract. YP has many, many complaints on various websites regarding the same issue.
Yp's sales staff are pushy and misleading, and willing to tell you anything in order to get a contract. Their technical department was unable to provide the service, and the customer service department made no attempt to resolve the issue, they just send the account back to collections.
