I recently was looking for a vehicle. I found one I was interested in at Young Kia. The saleman told me they had the vehicle for 10 days. The dealer did not tell the truth. I had found a free website that lets you run the vin # of any vehicle that is for sale online and shows you the online history. How long they have been trying to sell the vehicle and any price changes.
The vehicle report showed that dealer had had that vehicle for over a year not 10 days. The report also showed it had been priced online for $5300 less three weeks earlier. When I asked about the price difference they said it was a finger oops and was corrected. I then showed them the car report and it proved nothing they where saying was true.
Legaly they probably aren't in trouble for not discosing the truth. But I am glad I found this free service as I have found a majority of the car dealers are doing this. I found another dealer from this service that unposted from his site then reposted it at a higher price saying ""new inventory picture coming soon"" The report showed he had had that one for 5 months and several different prices.
So if nothing can be done legaly, the more us consumers use this site to uncover these advertising practises perhaps it will force dealers to be truthful?
marketcheck.com it is free and they do not sell your information as a consumer. I read their privacy rules. No one contacted me after signing up and using it to buy a car.
