I was led to this company because they called my cell phone with a recording stating that a lawsuit had been filed against me with the California Attorney General's office using my social security number. The numbers that came up were 951-777-8608 and 951-777-8609.
When I called back, they answered "Attorney General's Office" I explained that I had received a call from these numbers and I needed to understand what all of this was about. I was placed on hold and someone else came to the phone, an Indian man- he had stated that his name was Edward King Marshall. prosecutor for the California Attorney General's office. I took the information I could get from him. Not much except, he was very firm and offered to read to me the "affidavit" outlining the charges against me.
I began asking for more information. When I asked him the name of the Attorney General for the state of California, he told me that he had no time for this and that he would read the affidavit to me and I could look up the rest of the information on my own.
Then he hung up. About one minute later, the same recording called again on the 09 number. I had already tried to call back the 08 number but only received a busy signal. When I called the 09 number I received the same run around. When the man came back to the phone, I asked him again who the Attorney General for California was. He still couldn't answer it, but again informed me of charges against me and told me that I would be arrested and jailed until trial. I laughed at him and told him that I thought that he was hoping to get me to pay him money but instead, I would report HIM to the California Attorney General's office.
This was his response "My phone numbers are reported thousands of times a day. I don't give a F***" "Report me" I have not been able to reach either number since, both are busy.
He didn't get a thing from me but a nice laugh in his sorry ear. But I do notice as I research that this seems to be a bran new scam, unless I'm missing it somehow. Go back over this and remember the information in the event you get an electronic recording stating that a law suit has been filed against you with the California Attorney General's Office. All of the rest seem to be other things.
I can say that I am not easily imtimidaed by such morons, but obviously some people have been and had I been an innocent who didn't know better, I may have been taken in. Who knows?
I simply thought that since he made the attempt, with a bran new scam, electronic recording and all, that I would let others know. If you have given information through a loan company, you may hear from this idiot. Let me know if I can be of further assistance to anyone.
Getting calls from a number (916-604-7194) that reverse calling says is "Ymax Oration." An individual in Sacramento, CA who says his name is Steve Martin and claims to be from DOJ with a legal complaints says we need to call back before he takes legal action. Our lawyer son says this is probably a scam. We're contacting the FCC and Commerce Department to report abuse. Hopefully action will be taken to shut this scam down!
I received the same call with the same message to call 202-241-8215 before they take further action! Called them back they claimed to be the IRS and I was going to be arrested in 45min and that they were coming to a address that I never filed taxes at for reporting false income taxes! That they were going to freeze my acct. and take the $ out! The lovely Indian gentleman that had a very thick accent started to scream and yell at me I asked to speak to someone else he told me NO! I got so pissed off I hung up. I really thought about the call and realized it didn't make sense. Did the reverse look up and came across all this!!!! I feel bad for the people that they really got to send them money!!!!
Obviously, scammers are using Magic Jack numbers to allure unsuspecting victims to pay up--whether it is IRS or criminal investigation, lawsuit or lottery winner, they bait innocent people to get them to engage in financial transaction.
Message left on my answering machine on 8-June-2014: "Message: I need you or your retained atttorney of record to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time-sensitive. I'm officer Kelly Gray from the Internal Revenue Service. The hotline number of my division is 202-506-8602, I repeat, that's 202-506-8602. Don't disregard this message, and do return the call before we take any legal allegation against you".
When I did a reverse lookup on the phone number, it's a landline for "Ymax Oration". The idiot who placed the call doesn't even know the correct legal terminology to threaten people with. How stupid. How obviously fraudulent.
