They lure new victims by sending out marketing flyers to the neighbors in Anaheim and La Mirada Area.
Once you visit the gym to obtain ""FREE 7 day TRIAL"" offer, they want you to sign up the contract, stating that it must be done to give you free trial.
Since the manager, Mario S. is only guy who explains the gym and signs up the guests, he doesn't explain the contract line by line, he just rushes you to sign on their computer, basically tells you that you have 5 days to cancel with the refund.
After the 1st month, you will be boomed with hidden annual fee. If you complain to Mario, his reaction is ""Your 5 days of cancellation period expired, take it to the court, You've signed the contract!"" Change of attitude once you are hooked.
Their 30 day cancellation policy doesn't mean 30 days. It's more like a 2 month period. You've paid for 1st and the last month upon sign up, but it just means that you will be charged one more month of membership after you've filed your cancellation form. Good luck disputing this additional month due charge with them. Their headquarter is located in La Mirada, doesn't provide any physical address. You can communicate them via certified mail to their PO box only. They just ignore your emails.
Problem doesn't stop there. After you've complied with their so called Cancellation policy, they will still draw their membership from your bank account. When I called the membership services, they will just tell you that you didn't cancel the membership. I've asked for the cancellation confirmation letter to the manager, but I was told that they don't have such thing.
After I walked in with all the copies of the cancellation documents, they finally confirmed my membership cancellation but have no idea how long it will take for me to get the refund.
It has been 2 weeks since the confirmation and I still haven't heard from them regarding my refunds.
I guess I need to change my bank account number to stop them from charging monthly dues, even if they've confirmed the cancellation of my membership.
They charge your dues on time and threat you to file negative report on your credit if you don't pay on time, but the company do not have refund policy at all and even the manager doesn't know how long will it take.
If you are preparing a class action lawsuit agains WOW! gym, please let me know. I would love to participate as well.
