I was asked to "just meet this person", and it would not count against the 12 I had purchased because the person was not the age range I had designated, not a resident of the area I had designated, etc. Now (I am on the third matchmaker person!), I am told that is not possible, and if I accepted, "too bad"! The question I should have asked, but didn't: "Are there actually enough people in your resources" because quite frankly, I do not think there are, and as unscrupulous as they have been in this entire ordeal, they would not have disclosed that data honestly!

But like many dating services that rely on the size and quality of its pools of men and women, Wisconsin Singles' have suffered terribly and cannot guarantee match quality of any kind. It says so in the disclaimers of its contract.
I could get into the weirdness of the whole experience, but stories can always be one-upped and people's brushes with carnie-like businesses that are geared to get your money and get out all pretty much operate the same way. So I'll get to what matters.
There seem to be two main types of people who buy these services and - based on conversations I've had with women who have participated in the same or similar services - these two main types apply to both men and women. The first is the socially awkward person with a good job who thinks the service will buy him or her a relationship. That type I would imagine has always bought these services.
The second type is a person who has also always been around but is far more common and exacerbated by economic downturn - the financial disaster. If you have been recently divorced, are shuffling and fighting about two kids, are $100,000 underwater on a mortgage, owe $30,000 in legal fees, and have another $50,000 in credit card debt, what's another 5 grand? So far with Wisconsin Singles I have been matched with one of each type. The service's matchmakers will somehow determine whether I'm better matched with unattractive introverts or hot messes, and I guess my final four dates will all be pretty much one or the other.
If you have never been married or got out of a marriage relatively unscathed, would like to have a kid, and have the cash on-hand to pay for an expensive personal dating service, an expensive personal dating service is not for you. Save your money and join a running club.
I was guaranteed decent, intelligent matches with men my age. I have had four who were old in body and or mind, not healthy, or just plain boring. I could kick myself.
