My roommate and I moved out of our apartment. The manager did a walk through with me and the didn't have a camera to take pictures of what was wrong. I told her about the counter that my roomate and I had chipped accidentally and she made a note of it, and that was the only thing she made a note of. Her alleged "Final Walk-through" lasted a grand total of about 5 minutes.
We had finally finished moving all of our belongings to our new apartment and my roomate's mother, and myself did a walk through to make sure nothing was out of order, messy, or forgotten. When we left, we had locked all of the doors, and screen doors. We had a few dishes left behind that we didn't have room for and were fully aware of the $25 fee that would ensue for leaving them behind. I locked the door behind me, and went to turn in the keys, but the office was closed.
They had called me that next Monday and asked if I could bring the keys either that day or the following day. I turned the keys in on Tuesday and had changed our forwarding address from my roomate's mother's address, to our new apartment address. We had received the letter at the old forwarding address and we don't understand why the damage report would be sent before we had turned the keys in.
The reports had stated up to $300 in damages that werent there when we left. We were aware of the fee's dealing with the chipped counter, the dishes, and the professional cleaners but everything else they had claimed was damaged was in good condition when we left. We called and asked them to send us an email of the final walkthrough the manager did and the walkthrouh they did after we had moved.
