I have been a loyal client of this card company for over 2 years. Having deposited my payroll and my husbands payroll, we are both card holders. Every single tax time, our card gets blocked for malitious use when its just a federal refund sent in one of our names.
They request information and we have sent them to them in two different locations

This has been day 4. when they said it would take two days. (started this thursday 2/12/15)
This is the second time ive been on hold for over an hour to talk with someone first of all ENGILSH speaking and a supervisor. I will not wait 10 days when they oviously see that the names match from card holder to payroll to government deposit.
By doing this block they have not only shut me out of MY money, they have our payroll checks up in the air and I am in danger of my bills being shut off because I cant pay them when i have more then enough to cover everyone. I cant get to it.
Oh and the "malitious" activity was a 20 dollar breakfast, that me and my husband ALWAYS have every two weeks.
i will be removing all my funds off this card when its unblocked and I will be never spending A single dime at a walmart store ever again.
I purchased a Walmart Moneycard (prepaid credit card from Walmart) and loaded $300 to it in the store. Shortly after this I checked my balance and noticed I was missing $106 from my card. I called them and they said AmazonPrime.com charged my card for the amount. I told them I have no idea what that is. They asked me if I had contacted amazonPrime about the dispute and I said I have nothing to do with Amazon...Not my job to call them!! Then they said they are shutting down the card and all remaining money on it was locked up until about 2 weeks when my new card would arive. Unreal.
Then they said to go on the Walmart Moneycard website and down load a dispute form, fill it out and mail it to them. Then they would see what they could do from there.... I told them to keep it all and I would just write about it online. One of the times I called to check my balance from the 866 number on the back of the card, and the person working at Walmart Moneycard told me I won a free loaded $100 gift card and just verify my info with them so they could send it to me!!! I hung up and called right back and a different person said it was a scam.....on there end inside the company. I regret sharing personal info with this company and they are not to be trusted. I will never use a preloaded credit card again. John
I've had a permanent Walmart Moneycard for the better part of three years now. Mostly, it was used to purchase gas, at the onsite Murphy's USA pumps, as it saves an additional 0.15/gal. I've always reloaded the card at Walmart, at either a register, or at their Money Center. I've NEVER had an issue with it, until just the the other day. Upon attempting to purchase gas, I was told my card was declined. So, I paid, with cash, and went on my way. When I got home, I called the customer service number. After entering the pertinent information, the recording told me my card had been cancelled and I would be unable to reload the card OR even purchase a new one. I was able to unlock the remaining money on the account (after all, it's MY money, right??). Do you all realize just how prevalent the GreenDot cards are?!
Right away, I knew this was going to be a headache, as the automated system's option for actually speaking to a live person, only rerouted me to the option to change my PIN. So, I was able to send an email to their customer service people, and they called me back today.
I was forwarded to Josh. Right away, I noticed that he was using canned responses ("that's what the system says"). I was told that due to "suspicious activity" my account had been closed and this "activity" could have been something as benign as reloading the card at an unusual place. A few days prior, I actually had reloaded the card with a MoneyPak, from a local Walgreen's (a lot more convenient and closer than Walmart). The amount was $60.
SIXTY DOLLARS!!!
Poor Josh couldn't even tell me what the specific reasoning was, for my account being canceled. When I asked to speak with HIS supervisor, he told me that HE was the supervisor. He then told me that he was able to unlock my account, so I could access my money. If Josh was competent, he should have been able to see that the remaining balance was already unlocked. When asked about specifics, he only said "the system doesn't say why". So, this system is fully capable of CANCELING someone's account, yet is totally unable to state why?!? B****!!!
And why even have supervisors, if they're willing/able to give the information requested. I'm thinking poor Josh might simply have had perfect attendance, this preceding month, and he got to play supervisor, this week. HA! He didn't even know the money had already been unlocked.
Anyway, I know... tl;dr
1. The "suspicious activity" doesn't even have to be large amounts of money, just a different location.
2. Don't expect any answers, only rehearsed and template responses.
3. The supervisors are little more than lackeys, with no real access to real information.
4. "Well, that's what the system says" (i.e. You're SCREWED!!)
I checked my mail and found a letter from Green Dot Corporation (Walmart Moneycard). The letter was dated January 9, 2013, and stated that my card was used at Target duing the time of the security breach. Here is what some of the letter entailed.
"While your card information may still be secure, in order to you from any possible future fraud, we are sending you a new card. You should recieve the new card in 2 weeks. You will still be able to use your current card until you receive the new card."
I attempted to use my pre-paid Walmart Moneycard to make an online purchase today. My card was declined. I checked my online account and discovered I had $857 available. I called Walmart Moneycard's customer service. The automated system informed me that I had a few transactions declined due to an 'invalid expiration date'. I did not have an invalid expiration date.
I spoke to several representatives and supervisors. 5 out of the 6 had very thick accents and were difficult to understand. They told me that despite the letter stating I would be able to use my card, that I would not be able to use it OR access any of my money until I recived a new card. One rep told me it was mailed out on the 6th. One rep told me it was mailed out yesterday. Another told me I would recieve it in 8 to 10 business days. Two reps told me that it had not been mailed out at all.
This is causing an extreme hardship on my family and I, as I am a single mother and the money on my card is my only financial means.
I am thuroughly disgusted by the way this was handled by Green Dot, and dissapointed that Walmart and Mastercard are associated.
