About a year ago I had a debt I expected come through these guys in about 2 weeks it was all taken care of and I had a $0 balance. The day after I recieved a call from them stating I still owed over $400 of that debt. When I called back and tried to talk to the same reprensenitive i was informed they were fired and I had to pay it which I refused. The manager I spoke to started cussing me out when I backed him into a corner with their own recording of my calls and settlement then inside a hour said they were deatroyed. I've talked to a lawyer about it and it's being investigated but since that time I've recieved numerous hang up calls from someone at the company. So if you have a debt put through with these guys watch out they will lie to get as much out of you as they can then harass you to get more.
About 3 weeks ago I started getting calls from Edentown, NJ on my work phone asking for personal info but not telling me who was calling or why. I backtracked the number and found these guys. I called back but still provided no info, just asked them why they called. They claim I have a debt but I know I don't. I've never paid a bill late nor gotten any kind of past due notice. I sent a debt validation letter to them (YOU NEED TO DO THIS!!) and so far no response. I ignore the calls now but I'm filing complaints with every legitimate agency I can. Check your credit reports often and go after these bastards if the debt they claim you owe, you don't!! If they call, tell them you're recording the call (AND DO SO!), see if they stay on the line. Keep copies of every letter you send them if you do so your attorney will have info. They've been sued so much they should be shut down, so don't let them con you!!
In August of 2010, I was hospitalized and the doctor's office could not or would not locate me so I could pay the bill, so they turned it over for collection. The initial bill was approximately $549.00. I am severly mobility challenged and use a wheel chair to get around. I am on Social Security, Medicare and other programs.
When I was notified of the debt by Wakefield and Associates that I owed a bill and offered to pay $25.00 a month to settle the debt of $549.00. At that time the Wakefield Associate agreed to accept my payments and up to date I have paid Wakefield over $600.00. When I contacted Wakefiled, I was rudely informed the monthy stipend was not acceptable and I should be paying $50.00 a month.
I have repeatedily requested in writing with my payments, an accounting of my account showing what I owed and details on what I owe and why. To this date 05/30/2014 they have refused to comply and do nothing but threaten to damage my credit status.
I am under the auspice of the Adults with Disabilities Act and have been afforded protection as a "Senior At Risk". This does not deliver any solace as to their unscrouplous behavior. I have no other forum to protest their behaviour.
