I am 82 years old and retired. My insurance is Medicare which does not cover dental or vision and I was searching for a plan to address this issue. Through the internet I was contacted by The USA Dental Club, on September 9th ,2014, which operates under the LLC of Vital One Health Plans Direct (LLC Document Number L09000003379, FEI/EIN Number264034408). Address of the company is 16250 NW 59 Avenue, Suite 208 and 209, Miami Lakes Fl 33014 . Founder of the company is Rene Luis.
I spoke with a person named JASON (which I believe is a fake name) and he sold me on the Dental plan with lies about how much the discount would be if I had their plan He said that if the bill was $100 then it would be discounted $80. And I would pay $20. So I signed up with them which was a $39.95 per month with a one time $100.non refundable membership. He said he would call me at 10 am on September 11 with a list of Dentists that accepted this plan. He did not call and I found the telephone number he gave me was not to this company. I looked at my American Express statement and found the charge of $139.95 already posted. The phone number for the merchant was also an invalid number. I realized at this point that this is a SCAM. I contacted customer service at American Express to see what my options were. The agent said I could put a block on the merchant as far as the monthly charge but I would have to contact Vital One to refund the charges. I found a valid phone number on their website and requested a cancellation of this plan and requested a refund. The person I spoke with said he would refund the $39.95 but not the $100 membership fee. He cancelled the membership and did refund the $39.95 on the 12th of September. I received an e-mail from People Claim .com with rebuttal from USA dental Club which said I will never get my money back. I complained to the BBB but that was a waste of time because every claim is settled in favor of Vital One and they maintain an “A” rating.
NOTE: I filed this same complaint with the Florida Attorney General on Monday 9 22 2014.
The BBB’s People Claim complaint method appears to be a SCAM also since my complaint with them disappeared when they said they would post it on the web. I suspect that Vital One health plans are scams also from the complaints I’ve read.
