Verizon FIOS Reviews

I signed up with Verizon Fios for tv services only, but decided to get a triple package since they offered a $400 gift card. When I signed up, I asked them about the card and they said that after 3 months service, they will mail out the card to me. I called them at 3 months again to verify and was told that it would be coming to me shortly. So today, 4 months later, I went on the chatline and "spoke" to a Khaja, then a Shelly, who was a bit rude and short, then her supposed manager, Michael, who opened with a hello then just left me hanging after I told him to check their site that is still showing this offer. Shelly rudely said that it wasn't in my contract, even though their site still clearly says :$400 visa giftcard if you sign up for a 2 year contract for the triple play." I just think that it's really stupid that they would lose a $200 per month customer ($2400) over a $400 visa gift card. Their customer service is extremely inefficient and very rude. And their service isn't that great either.

I had recently became aware of Verizon charging me for a service, (the Spanish Channel), which I did not order nor authorize. I do not speak Spanish nor to I have anyone who lives or visits with me who would be viewing the Spanish Channel. I engaged in an online customer service chat with Verizon, brought to their attention my dispute, and simply requested they provide me with proof that I ordered or otherwise authorized this servcie. Verizon's response was that it was my responsibility to notice that I was being billed for a service which I did not order and to then fix it. This means that Verizon can "pack" as many services as they want to onto your "bundles" and bill you...hoping that you never find out about it. Be carefull....and read your bills!

After having been a loyal customer of Verizon FIOS for 2 years, my contract came to an end. Of course they did not want me to go back to Cable so they throw out all the stops to get you to resign. After voicemails left on my home phone and emails that stated I would get a $200 gift card I figured why not sign-up again for 2 more years. I even confirmed a month later after signing up to see when my gift card would come, they pulled up my account and said yes I qualified and it would be after 90-days of service. 90-days came and went and then the fun begins. I got to waste/spend hours of my life calling and speaking to reps online who all suddenly had no record of a $200 Visa gift card. Time and time again, getting the same old story. I opened a case with the BBB only to get Verizon Exective Relation's Department located in up-state NY. They were anything but helfpul as they went to investigate what I already told them I was told by their countless representatives. So, basically it is all just them jumping through a hoop before they brush you off.

Their false advertising is a joke, they appreicate a 'new' customer any day over an existing customer. May 2016 cannot come fast enough when my contract is up.

I did downgrade my cable service to a lower plan, once I found out that HBO could be watched now on AmazonPrime for $99/year (along with other useful benefits) why was I paying $20+tax a month more for the awful service of Verizon Fios. I will make the $200 back and then some and then bye bye Verizon. It was nice knowing you, but your false advertising and lack of resolving this matter will make me go back to your competitor where at least they have a simple price plan with no fake Visa Gift Cards.

I signed up for Verizon Fios at the beginning of August of this year. There was a promo for the triple play which included a free tablet with data plan purchase, and a free $400 gift card. I had heard previously about verizon giving excuses for not handing out the cards, so I took picures of the ad, and saved the ad as well. I then decided to give it a shot. I reiterated the deal when I ordered. Its now mid november, and no gift card. Today I called Verizon, and lo and behold, I "don't qualify" for the gift card. They won't say that the offer wasn't available, only that I don't qualify. They won't tell me why I don't qualify either (because I do, I was very thorough in my research before I switched to fios). I am very pissed off and will be notifying every media outlet that I can that Verizon is still pulling this scam.

Verizon Fios reps were in Walmart and asked to talk with us about our internet provider. We stopped, talked and heard the pitch. Better faster service, Okay - PLUS - If you sign up with us, we will give you a FREE LG TABLET too. Okay - You got me.

So I switch form my present internet service to VERIZON FIOS. - The service is okay, not really any better than my last provider however I never got my free tablet. They somehow just "forgot" to email me my coupon.

so...spend over 45 minutes on the phone explainning the situation. still no tablet,

Then we're told, by someone else, if you don't receive an email in 48 hours let us know...awesome, so I get to wait on hold some more??? too cool.

No email after 5 days. I call again, - oooops, they are so sorry. - Indeed I get the email a few months after I signed up. but...Here is the kicker.

In order to use the tablet I have to sign up for a 2 year contract at $10 per month. NONE OF THIS WAS EVER MENTIONED - Thats $240!!!! plus a hook up fee. NOT FREEE - am I right?

So Now, no one can help me, tablet is useless, they don't give a $%^& about me as a customer, hours spent on the phone. all wasted time. So these guys can go "EF" Themselves. As usual, a big company finds a way to hose the little guys. D***. They got me.

Verizon a non-caring, non-American or is it.

Have we as Americas put money in front of friends, family and even God?

Well Verizon has done so.

After being ripped off by Tracfone for 129.00 for a cell phone that lasted only one hour they flat out refused to refund my money. So I went to Verizon on Dec. 27th 2013 I told them I live 35 miles from the closes town and have medical conditions that made me feel I needed a cell phone for emergences. The lady showed me a cell that was 100.00 out the door with a 50.00 rebate and a 2 week free trial. I thought I can do that on my government monthly check it turns out the cell was a defect I had to charge it twice a day. So I took it back on Jan. 3rd 2014 they didn’t believe me at first in till I showed them it said 18 hours of charge when in fact the battery was dead.

I looked at another phone the tag said same deal 100.00 out the door and 50.00 rebate but while I was looking at it she said Oh that’s the wrong price it’s 150.00, I said you can’t do that it’s called “Bate & Switch” So I got it for the original 100.00 out the door. They also told me I can have my home phone number put on this new phone and that was the main selling point for me because trying to contact medical people and friends for the past 20 some years can get very confusing and just turns into a big mess. So I took that one thinking I had another 2 week free trial. She said I’ll do the paper work for you so you don’t have to I thought cool good deal because I quit school at age 15. I can’t read books or contracts and understand what it’s saying without reading it 3 to 4 times.

Well I’m not going to stand in the store with customers trying to read a 6 page contract it’s very embarrassing and can’t understand what some words even mean.

Well after paying I thought for the first time she told me you can’t have your home phone number on this phone. My understanding of contract law is that even if a contract was signed and they added something verbally and renege on that then the contract is void!

Well on or about Jan. 13th, 2014 that phone stopped working and the screen lit up in big letters “Pay Your Bill 166.00” well I had no idea why I am being charged 166.00 they never told me that was going to happen so I took it back and said “I’m done with cells phones forever I want nothing more to do with them.

So now I get a bill for 520.00 I said I’m not going to pay that so they say you owe us from Dec. 27th 2013 to Jan. 28th 2014 I’m thinking so where is the free part of this deal. So I looked up my credit card info and they charged me for that first phone same day I went in there looking Dec.26th and just added that time to the other phone again where’s the free part?

And to top it all off my brother had a stroke months earlier and in Dec. 2013 he some how found access to the fire escape and fell. So I was told he may not live much longer and passed Jan. 19th 2014 so this is on my mind. Then on 14th of Feb. 2014 my mother passed away and these people called some times twice a day with harassing phone calls wanting payment and there is no will I get nothing. I told them what had happen and that I couldn’t even go to their funeral because I had no money and suffer from very major headaches and taking pills that doctor ordered to help relieve the pain and in pain 24/7 for about 2 years now. In 2007 the doctors told me I might have 10 years left to live but they didn’t care about any of this they just wanted their money. This went on for over 3 months till I made a payment to get them off my back so I could think. They also said if you make a payment we will take off 50.00 well another lie they did not. They also ask for my email address obvious just to harass me even more that should be illegal. I contacted the Wyoming attorney general he basically told me my state of mind at the time of signing the contract I thought for the first time meant nothing! I think he should be replaced because the law states (For the purposes of contract law, mentally impaired includes mental retardation, senility, insanity, delirium resulting from physical injuries, intoxication, and side of effects resulting from medication.

It’s amazing how greedy people are now days.

There are over 2,900 people filing complaints about Verizon ripping them off 2,900 can’t be all wrong.

I wanted to email Verizon to discuss the possiblity of waiving the early termination fee. After online chat session with customer supports failed, I tried to email them as was directed to their so call "Community" forums

When I posted my grievance the only answers that I can get are from people who I personally believe are paid to sit on these boards all day to denigrade and belittle those who have complaints that they do not deem worthy to escalate to actual support. I don't believe regular people with a life and a job, will sit on a forum all day defending a major corporation and not get paid for it.

When I called them out on this, the moderator first silenced my account to "ready only" and when I created a new one, they banned my ip address for trying to circumvent the process. They also edited the string to make sure they got the last word so that that the dispute ends making them look favorable. I did not use profanity or make personal insults to any of the forum members. I remember calling one a "shill" which I believe they most likely are, but I don't think that was grounds for banning me.

I emailed the head of Customer Support and told her about my experience and I made sure that my email was exceptionally polite. She never got back to me.

As far as the termination fee, I can take no for an answer but as a customer for 4 years and a wireless customer for 10, I'd expect to be treated a little better, and speak to somebody who actually has the authority to make that decision.

I am still banned from using the support site.

It is absurd that Verizon FIOS which is an expensive premium high speed internet service provider does not work with Youtube. This is the case with thousands of users mostly in the north east but also with many cases as far west as California who experience slower than dialup speeds on Youtube. 3g speeds on cell phones stream faster than 100mbps downstream service on Fios as far as Youtube is concerned. This is a well documented issue with hundreds of reports on Verizon's own support forums and other message boards and watch groups. Verizon's customer service initially deny the issue but once upgraded to a level 3 technician, they do aknowledge the problem but admit they have no escalation path for the issue to be resolved. Basically there is nothing they can/will do about it.

Meanwhile, most customers are locked into a 2 year contract which carries heavy penalties to cancel. If you are thinking about switching to Verizon, look forward to horrendous customer service and utter neglect for major issues such as these. Youtube is not just for funny cat videos but also sometimes required for work tutorials and other necessary resources. Even if it was for just funny cat videos, its among the top 3 or 4 visited websites on Earth. How can they not have fluid access or streaming?

When I signed up for Verizon's FIOS Service (Internet, Phone Television services) I was told about the early disconnect fee. I specifically asked what would happen If I had to move. I was told that if Verizon did not offer service at my new address, the early disconnect fee would be waived.

Well what I feard became reality. Circumstances beyond my control are forcing me to move. Now the other shoe drops. Verison FIOS is not available at my new address. However, it does have standard phone line, DSL Internet connection, and they will offer Direct TV satellite service. I am now being told that if I do not take these obviously inferior products. I will still have to pay my early disconnect fee of $135.

DSL, I know from prior experience, will not meet my needs, it's too slow. I have it on good authority that the standard phone service at my new location is noisy and unreliable. I also have absloutely no interest in placing a satellite dish anywhere on my property. I have used it in the past and did not like it at all. I do not wish to lose signal if it rains or snows too hard. Also, having to climb up on my roof to clear the snow off during a heavy storm in order to keep watching TV is more excitement than I care to repeat.

My problem with Verizon is twofold. First, I ordered FIOS, not whatever they had in second place. To threaten me with financial loss in order to get me to carry out my contract with obviously inferior products is tantamount to extortion. I consider their inability to continue to provide me with the product I selected at the new location a breach of contract; if not the letter of the contract, at least the spirit of it.

Second, although I cannot prove it, The rep assured me if FIOS was not available at my new location, the fees would be waived. I am certain of this, I would not have entered into the contract otherwise.

I should think that this kind of strong arm tactic would beneath the dignity of a company such as Verizon. I guess I overestimated their integrity. Rest assured, I will not repeat that error in judgement.
