I contracted Lindsey at Van Horst Contractors to repair the roof on one of my commercial buildings that was damaged because a tree fell on it during the big storm last year in Ivoryton, Connecticut. Several months later, there was a leak coming from another part of the roof not damaged in the storm, so I had my local roofer check it out for me. While on the roof, he noticed that the repairs done by Van Horst was not done properly. For instance, the shingles are not nailed down and there are nails coming thru the rake edge metal. Also, you can even see that the roofing material is not aligned. I have photos showing the slopping work that does not meet the local building code.
I have been writing emails and making phone calls since July 5, 2013 asking Van Horst the repair the work. Lindsey Rutka, president of Van Horst, sent me an email on July 23 promising that the work would be done "in a few weeks" and on August 21, Lisa, the contractor's administrator, said that it would do the work "within 30 days".I called Lindsey several times the last 2 weeks, but he has not called me back and the only time I have been able to speak to Lisa, is when I keep calling until I get her on the phone.
Frustrated, I have decided to put this matter in the hands of my lawyer, as I don't want to wait until it snows to have the work completed.
