Have never written a review before, but they were so bad I wanted to make sure that maybe it saves someone from using them. My husband and I moved from Orange County California to Oregon. It has been enough time to calm down so I can share my story.
I met with Rachel at my home a month before I was supposed to move. She was awesome. She was very attentive and kind. She told me she had been doing this for over 20 years (even though she wasn't that old). We went around and she counted items and we even spoke about my headboard I had made in my master bedroom. At one point she asked how many boxes I would have, I guessed 40-50? She laughed and told me she had been doing this a long time and we would have at least 100. When she gave me her bid it was $6000 I was a little shocked. That wasn't the most expensive bid I received, but it wasn't the cheapest either. But, because of her and Rhia's customer service I convinced my husbands company to use them.
The day before we were scheduled to move they called just to confirm. They informed me they would be at my house between 12-2. I was a little shocked because I had scheduled the move to start at eight in the morning. They told me they had a job that had taken three times as long and they had to go back first thing in the morning to finish, so I said okay. So my husband and I just waited. I received a call at one to say they just finished the job and were on there way. Then I received a call at FOUR from Rhia to ask if they could reschedule for the next day. I told her that was impossible because my family and I were physical driving to Oregon the next day. They finally showed up at EIGHT in the evening. Within an hour they informed me that Rachel had only told them I would need half of a 26 foot truck. I said there is no way you can put a 3 bedroom home in half of a truck. Then one gentlemen said "if you just give us $500 in cash we will fill the rest of the truck." I told them I didn't have that kind of cash. They then said as a favor they would fill the truck. At two in the morning they told us the truck was full. They said that for $800 they would "do us a favor and come back tomorrow and get the rest of the stuff and call it a full load." But if we informed Rachel or Rhia the deal was off.
At that point we had to lie to them and make them think we were going to give them this money so they would show up for the rest of our stuff. My husband and I left for Oregon, but my father stayed behind to take care of it. They called us at seven in the morning saying they were just unloading our truck, and would be at our house by ten. They showed up at TWO in the afternoon. My sixty year old father literally moved things onto the truck so they would take it. When they realized they weren't getting there money they informed my father that the were going to "sell my stuff at auction." He also called by husband and said that since we weren't giving him his cash, we signed a form that said we were going to have to pay an additional $1800 When I finally got a hold of Rhia (not because she called me back but because she happened to answer her phone after 15 messages and four emails) she told me she was so sorry for what had happened. She said she had spoken with her owner or boss and that they had fired that crew and under no circumstances did we owe ANY more money.
I actually breathed a sy of relief for a second. I received a call a week later from Rhia and now all the sudden I had 600 cubic feet more of stuff and I owed them $2200 extra dollars. I said that is impossible, I didn't add anything, I actually sold stuff and didn't take as much stuff with me. She said she misspoke when she said I don't anymore money. She also said she had spoken to the owner and he said tough, we owe the money. She asked if I agree to the new price. I told her no. I didn't agree with it at all but you have my stuff and I'm over a barrel at this point. 14 days later my stuff arrived, and I had tons of broken dishes, missing items (that somehow didn't make it on the moving list) and furniture that was broken and the GLUE was still wet where they tried to repair it. The gentleman who came with out stuff even suggest we sue them for all the crap we had to deal with.
I don't know what to do about this. My husband and I don't have the extra money, let alone $2200 extra, but we had no choice. Upon further inspection of Rachel's bill, she only put half of the stuff we went through. She put things like my mattress but not box springs. She only put one of the two children's dresser's. The tubs we counted TOGETHER aren't on there. I think they did it all on purpose. This is be how they do business. It cost us over $8000 that we didn't have. They robbed us and I haven't heard form one person to apologize. NO ONE will talk to me. I can't get Rachel, Rhia or the owner to call me back. Just thought people out there should know how they do business.
