Yeah he is a scammer that's been too jail for home repair fraud
That's the biggest scammer on the google for the Chicago area , he has been to jail for repair fraud he uses different names all the time ! Beware water repair customers
Red flags were popping up from the very beginning of my interaction with this company, but I ignored them at my own peril...
I own a roofing company. My crew was working on a roof and accidentally broke a glass in our client's four seasons sunroom. I ordered a tempered glass with USA Board Up & Glass Company. It took almost two weeks for them to ship the glass, but it's understandable. The ordering also involved me paying a $225 deposit, which I did. The entire job was estimated to cost $449.
The first red flag was the payment method. They simply took a picture of my credit card for the payment, which is odd and not secure, to say the least. I let it slide, though. I have a soft spot for small businesses and I know they sometimes tend to operate in unorthodox ways.
Then the fun part started. They sent a person who was supposed to install the glass. The employee simply was not capable of performing this task. He huffed and puffed and complained and then left abruptly promising to come back later. The next day I was told they'd be sending someone else. The person at the office told me flat out that the guy who failed miserably the other day steals business from the company and pockets the money he makes on the side; so they let him go.
Unfortunately, all the other employees they sent, even if they were not the stealing kind, were as incompetent as the first one. Over the 4 visits or so, they were not able to install one glass. The homeowners contacted me and asked me to find another company, because they simply couldn't stand to be windowless any longer, as well as babysit incompetent "pros" at the USA Board Up & Glass Company over and over again.
I contacted the owner Chris, explained the situation and politely asked to refund my deposit, since the job has not been done and there was no prospect of it being completed any time soon. He refused, even though he acknowledged that his employees were not competent enough. However, he offered me a solution: he would subcontract another company who would be able to do the job for some $900 instead of initial $449!
I declined the offer and asked for my deposit back once again. When Chris refused to make the refund, I contacted him for the last time and explained that I have no choice but to leave a negative review on Yelp, report his company to the Better Business Bureau, and file a Ripoff Report. He told me he did not care about such things and hung up on me! What a brilliant business owner!
To sum up, if you want to do business with a glass company whose employees are not capable of installing a piece of glass and whose owner doesn't care about the reputation of his company, call USA Board Up & Glass Company of Willowbrook today. Otherwise, stay away!
