This is just to warn anyone that was formerly registered under Central Contractor Registration (CCR) that will be renewing under the new System of Award Management (SAM). SAM (www.sam.gov) is the official government site. There are several companies that will do this work for you. The problem is, it took me just as long to update my governmental entity's information as it would to fill out the info required by these companies.
US Federal Contractor Registration charges $599 for this service! My assistant spoke with John Wayne II of USFCR. She stated that he spoke very fast and used tons of acronyms (an obvious attempt to confuse her). She then came to me and after some research, I found the correct government site. USFCR's site has an official look to it and they want to charge you $599 to do something that took me all of ten minutes!
This is a scam and there are many people that will fall for it because they make it sound like the shift from CCR to SAM is some big deal.It is simply a migration of data from the old system to the new system. All you have to do is verify your information. And if you have to register, that's easy enough as well. Do not fall for paying any money when you can perform this task for free on the government's official website!!
They are a definite scam. They get your money and don't follow through with the completion of the registration. They don't return phone calls and ignore email requests. Just a total agency to be wary of. They look like an official government website to lure you in. At no time did we think we were not dealing with a legit federal agency until we had so much trouble with our registration. They have some lame 48 hour policy to request a refund which is hardly enough time to find out they are a total scam and you won't get what you paid for. Hard to believe that the Federal Government does not have a problem with agencies like this appearing to look like a legit federal agency.
Rod Johnson, from US Federal Contracters, misrepresented himself, by stating that we have provided the SAM registration for you in years Past (never provided before scam). Then contininues to call all staff names he has in his database to say " jessica, nicole, lorien do not return my phone calls, I have been trying to reach them, this is an urgent matter that requires immediate attention to not loose A,B,C."
Everyone out there, SAM registation is FREE! This company's name and message are missleading and disceptive to organizations and their staff. Beware! I have filed a complaint with NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and BBB to report this.
Not only do they represent they need to update your SAM registration but they also represent their website membership for $2500 per year will provide endless opportunities for businesses with a SAM #
I am an attorney and have had numerous clients use the services of USFCR. Several have been awarded multi-million dollar contracts. Yes, SAM is free and so is PTAC. Go ahead try them. USFCR has more clients and has clients awarded more contracts than all the PTAC locations combined. USFCR would not be so successful if PTAC was doing its job.
The site advertises a lot in order to be at the top of the search results. Very definitely scam oriented. Enough fine print hidden away to make sure they stay legal no doubt, but the actual people talk about how awful it will be for you to do this on your own, how complex it is and use a variety of high pressure sales tactics.
And trying to cancel with them just means they will charge you the entire fee as a cancellation fee. You must cancel within 48 hours, and they don't respond to your request by email until after the window is closed. You have to somehow navigate to their cancellation page on your own. And it may take longer than that for some people to even realize they have been scammed.
Pure scam, and getting a refund will require you to call your credit card company.
I started on the SAM.gov web-site but somehow ended up on this scam's page. Until I saw the $599.00 charge, I didn't realize what was happening. I called my credit card company to dispute the charge. I then called USFCR and the guy said there was a cancellation button in the upper right corner of their web-page. I went back there and even did a search for cancellation, but there is no easy way to cancel, so I'm depending on my credit card company.
Wish I could leave no stars as USFCR sounds like they are helping you, but really helping themselves to your wallet. I got scammed into thinking they were the ones to go to. Don't do it, SAM and all other governmental agencies are FREE to register.
Do it yourself or contact the help desk. It is FREE, FREE, FREE!

Totally bogus representation
This page is the scam not USFCR
