Their internet site came up when I Googled a very specifc SCSI hard drive. I wanted to buy a quantity of them, and called them to verify that they did indeed have quantity 10 of those very specifc 2.1 Gb 50-pin SCSI hard drives. I told Kazim (Shariff) that the drives HAD TO BE 50-pin, or we could not use them. He said they did in fact have 10 of those drives, and for the same $89 price that was shown on their web site. They send me a quote showing exactly that same information. I then decided to get 6 more, 16 in total, of those drives. I called them to verify that they did indeed have 16 of those exact drives. Kazim said they did, but that the price would be $95 each. Even costing a little more, I ordered 16 of the hard-drives, and they charged my AmEx. What I received from them where 68-pin hard drives, which I had told them I could not use. Additionally, one of the drives had "DOA" (Dead On Arrival) written in ink on it, but someone had tried to rub it out. Curious, I plugged the DOA drive into a system to see if it was indeed DOA, and it was. It was completely dead. It would not even spin up. Even more curious, I then began testing each of the hard drives and found that every single one of the 16 drives they sent me was completely dead. None of them would spin up. Some of them you could hear the heads clicking, but the drives wouldn't spin up. Kazim had told me that they tested every part before shipping. Interesting. Either a liar, or a straight up crook. At this point they're not looking very good, but of course it gets worse. Their invoice says that you must get an RMA before returning anything at UpgradeBay.com/support. That page does not exist. I emailed Kazim Shariff again, and he told me to email them for an RMA. I did. They later called me to request all the serial numbers off the drives. What purpose is that? To delay of course. That was 7 days ago, and I still have not receved and RMA number from them. Besides that, what about the fact that all the drives he did send us were dead. It didn't seem to surprise him. (I guess he already knew that.) He blamed it on a firmware or revision problem. On all 16 drives? Anybody believe that? The drives would not spin up even with only the power cable connected. (Have you ever heard of a firmware or revision problem WITH THE POWER? Nice.) In the mean time, he has emailed me saying that it will take some time to locate the correct drives, and that this mess occurred because we did not give him the 50-pin connector requirement. If fact, their web site describes the drives as 50-pin, I called him several times and told him specifically that they HAD TO BE 50-pin, the quote he sent me states 50-pin, and the invoice he emailed me states 50-pin. I guess that wasn't enough notice. OR, he's a crooked bait & switch type scoundrel who never had the correct drives but wanted to "lock-in" our money. Remember, their warranty is for exchange only, no refunds. Now he says to be patient, that it will take them some time for them to locate the correct drives, and that we will have to wait for them to find some. I finally emailed him to cancel the sale since they don't have the correct part. But I fully expect to have to do a charge-back thru American Express. If they don't want to pay for return shipping, the drives will go off to recycling.
I believe these guys are just crooks, plain and simple.
