My wife and I have a joint account and I have a separate account with Univest. We also have our mortgage through them. On my personal separate account, I received a letter stating I am limited to a $250.00 spending limit. I didn’t think anything of it, as on the joint account we had received no such letter. Today , Saturday July 26th I tried to make a flight reservation with a total ticket price of $350.00, I get a denial from the airlines stating that the card was denied.
Now I am scrambling to a) find another flight to see my sick mom and 2) find out why I cannot access my own money from my account. To boot they have something called 24/7 banking by phone but it really isn’t 24-hour service or even service on a Saturday that extends beyond 1pm. Therefore, I am screwed because Univest feels fit to tell me how much of my money I can spend at a time.
Our joint account is not an option as we are paying bills through it as well as shopping. Credit Cards we are trying to avoid using because of the outrageous interest rates everyone now has on cards.
