Universal taxi is a scam !!! They will lie lie lie , to get you to work for them . They say you will make 800$ weekly cash . Yeah right . They charge you a lease of 78$ to 85$ for the car alone daily . And after that you can keep what you make. But you don't make anything . then if you try to quit they say they will send it to the courts and have them put a hold on your license . Like a suspension. Because you didn't pay their taxi lease and didn't stay with them for however long you signed for . This is a complete rip off . I quit my good paying job to work for these people . They are not running a business they we running a scam ! And people need to realize that this is not acceptable. Be honest , don't lie to get someone to work for you and not have any compensation ! And to top it off I was driving a car with a check engine light which the transmission was slipping . It was not safe at all . I ask people not to use there service . They are lying , cheats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was down and outright giving this job a fair shot since I have always wondered what driving a taxi is about (semi-retired) and was willing to work for a fair but meager wage. Universal Taxi gave me the car at night, dark, and I didn't notice the dent until the following day. Issue next day)
They charge Cabbie's $88 a day to rent on what was an old (2005-2007 vehicle) 160,000 mile taxi, OK.
That's $28,000 a year. A brand new Lincoln M?V is $31,500, OK.
They keep 20% of all credit card charges!
The rent must be paid by 6am next day.
They charge rent, they call it dues and more on that later.
Think Income Tax Evasion. You must pay cash 1st day because charges get backed up (for obvious reasons benefitting the owners, Yosi or something like that, the Russian owner picks you up at home in a Lincoln your first day, Gordon, the strong arm man with a vulgar mouth to me the beginning of day 2 when I quit, all your 'right' under Illinois State Law on contracts which they said was a binding lease even though I signed after 7pm the night they hired me. Gordon the following day accused me of being ungrateful for a cheap chicken sandwich in a bag that they feed me during orientation.
These people never, never lose.
You DO !
This is after my first day recognizing what this organisation was and realize on applications the risk of working for a company if it is indicted. They did take care of me although I did bust my ass trying to make it work. Some kid taxi driver told me his "fines" were $17,000. He started this past June.
ATTENTION: you potential applicants.
I have lived with "your word is your bond" and that is definately OPPOSITE the case here. After my first 12 hour day which like I said, I was honestly going to make this work for a while. I actually liked it.
A girl Jane who was nice thought I was quiting day1-end while I payed my lease and said, "You CAN'T Quit !
This is after my first day! Now when someone says that would you want to get in bed with that? Comsumer reports them as something I have never seen, An F. You can't go lower than that but wait;
So they take in $28,000 x 6 x 52 x 300 (their figure in orientation) Cabs = $ 7, 500, 000 Year in lease from their slave labor young christian men.
20% of the credit cards and even coupons, all booked charge accounts and I guarentee Lawyers, do not pay taxes on any of the cash forked over by drivers. I can provide detailed numbers because I was an A Finance student years ago. I am over forty and was looking for any fair job.
They must have a running account with the Illinois Title Transfer Department if looking for evidence, and said they were charging me $500 if I didn't work 7 days which they enslave you your final week.
This shit really goes on here. They are vultures and you are the road kill.
When Gordon threatens you after ONE day on the job with accusations,
especially lies about not being able to back out with the Illinois Law governing contracts (Damages?)
three day rule, I hope. I got out of this; 100% Tax Eavsion scheme. All the same religious men, run the inside office of this shop, the money. Steve was a very nice gentleman which I liked during my one day stint but the dishonesty displayed in 24 hours was just too much. I did see unsafe vehicles but they gave me a decent 5 year old, they call it new, vehicle (always think contracts you engage here that are bad for you).
That boy cabbie put in $6.00 of gas while he drove me to the train station on Day2, so the kids really are slaves which is very unfortuate as I can't stand when these types of people do this to the less-educated.
There is too much more and I can't copy this text inside my browser to pass to the next unwittingly soul so I will suggest a class action (I always follow Supreme Court rulings) is instore and the money is huge over say the past five years. Lawyers listen up. I can make a compelling case for at least $12,000,000.00 of screwing the IRS and the Humans they hire
This is an inequitable proposition for any taxi driver to do business with, anyone.
I was there one day, to have them threaten to sue me? Seriously? Sue me after one day for some contract they even refused to give me a copy back of, as we speak so they can argue the contract is enforcable next week? These guys are the best fraudsters I have seen in a long while.
ON Day ONE ?
No No No Thank You.
Run from this place
They evade taxes through their deductions, classifications, exemptions. Lets sit down with a forensic accountant and take these dirty players down?
