United States Postal Services Reviews

I am incredibly disappointed in the customer service at the Markville USPS facility and USPS in general.

I needed to mail off several totes, each weighing about 50lbs. I chose USPS because they had reasonable shipping costs and customers can arrange ""shipping pick up"" for parcels under 70lbs. After completing all necessary documentation online, I arranged the free pick up during the window when a postman delivers mail to my area. Sounds great and convenient, right? Wrong. A postman from the Markville location was supposed to come between 12:30pm - 2:30pm. No show until well after 4pm which is when I'd left home.

That was my first attempt at arranging a pick up. I figured maybe I should pay the fee to guarantee a certain pick up window. OK, no problem I'll fork over the extra money since I need this service as my totes are very heavy for a woman to handle alone. The next day I paid for an early morning pick up. NO SHOW AGAIN until after 4pm. When the postman finally arrived, he took one look at the tote and said ""Oh yeah I can't take that. Nothing over 20lbs"" and started to walk away while I asked a question. Whoa slow down, it's under 70lbs and why does the USPS website allow me to make the pick up reservation if no one can take it??? He just said they need to put a face with a name and ask me questions (which I had already done online). When I asked why so late, his answer was essentially that they don't do those windows and come whenever they can. What a joke.

So after he left, I decided to visit the Markville USPS myself to send off my tote and see what the disconnect was before they closed for the day. I was genuinely confused. I specifically chose usps BECAUSE I could schedule the pick ups. When I arrive with my 50lb tote, I simply asked why I couldn't do the pick up if the site says it's fine and if something has recently changed. The infamous Mark Pound gave me the laziest answer ever, ""You can talk to my supervisor at the end down there if you like. There's a line of people here."" Wow, how rude. It was a simple, polite question dude.

Eventually after asking and maintaining my patience he finally told me that any packages like what I needed to mail (heavy + international destination) required in-person drop off. OK, that's all your postman who came to my door had to say. That's all you, Mark, had to say instead of the attitude upfront. Fine, looks like I'll just have to manage to take each tote myself since I've already paid for them all.

The next day I brought in three more totes. I entered the facility, which was not crowded at all and simply leaned over to quickly ask a postman (that did not have a customer in front of them) if they had a dolly customers could use or if I needed my own. Mark happened to be the postman in between customers. BEFORE I could even get out a few words he cut me off and said ""I'll be with you later! I have this other lady first!"" Dude, seriously? It was a 3-second question. The postman next to him who was ACTUALLY helping a customer overheard his rudeness and said ""Yes we have a cart. Just meet me at the side door in just a second ma'am."" I am flabbergasted at Mark's rudeness at this point. I have no words. None. I will never visit this location again.

I know that being a postman isn't the easiest of jobs, but how does particular location stay in business? I know plenty of other people who would love to have those jobs and will treat people with much more respect. I am disgusted. That Markville location has single-handed given UPS and DHL another customer.
