This company, USCS, called me at 3:19 7/21/15. A woman with a very strong accent left a message on my voicemail. All the message said was something about a legal matter and I need to call and have my attorney ready. I called the number and a man, he too with a very strong accent, stated that I will receive legal documents on Friday 7/25/2015 because I haven't paid a bill. When asked what company is this, this guy with a very strong accent stated USCS and told me not to ask that question again. I stayed very calm and polite, but continued to ask more questions. When asked the reason for the call, he said they were a law firm representing United States Credit Services.
I asked for their address and phone number and the guy responded with a Brooklyn address that isn't legit. ( I googled it)After asking more questions about this supposedly outstanding debt, I was placed on hold for serveral minutes. Another man with a strong middle eastern accent took my call and repeated what the first man said. He was more rude than the first guy. When asked to fax me the documents that they claim to have, he said that an attorney would deliver the papers Friday morning. I told him if it's a debt I owe, fax me the creditor's name and the amount. The guy read off a long list of banks, stores, payday loan companies, merchants, etc and said it could be any one of them.
I suggested that they mail whatever they claim I should have received and the guy said it would be delivered unless I was willing to handle it now. I was told that if it goes to court, I would have to pay $5,480.87 to the judge or my house and cars would have liens against them. When I asked what information he had on me, he had my social security number, incorrect banking information, wrong email address, correct mailing address.
I looked this company on the BBB website, there are complaints about this company because it's a scam!
I got a nasty voicemail from a man with a strong Indian accent telling me that I'd be really sorry if I didn't call them back. Arrest and court matters. I called the number back and the phone was answered ,"Law Office". The man, who did not introduce himself- and also was thick accented, told me that I was being sued and to expect court papers to come to my work this Friday. I asked who is suing me and why? He told me the company name was United States credit services. They own payday loan companies throughout the country, and I had gotten a loan through my email (which he had) and deposited to my bank account (which he had the name of) and then I never paid the company back. They supposedly tried to withdraw payments from that account, and were not able too. I argued that this was incorrect and tried to get information about the supposed debt. I knew I didn't do it but I didn't know if it was identity theft. The man told me only that the papers would arrive on Friday and that I should be prepared to have someone bail me out and to have money to pay the $5480 judgement. If I couldn't afford a lawyer, one would be appointed too me. I told them to send the paperwork and hung up. I belong to a legal service through work so I called them, and an actual attorney called that number back for me. Again, they answered, "Law Office". My real attorney informed the man that answered (who was the original nasty caller on my voicemail) that he is an attorney, and asked the name of their law firm. The older man responded, "United States Credit Services "(which you remember- was the name of the company suing me according to the first guy). The older man couldn't look up my case by information the last guy gave me, only by my cell phone number- which he had a great deal of trouble understanding. After 3 tries and my lawyer asking which State they were located in- the man hung up on us.
