We had a contract with United Merchant Services as our merchant procesors, we cancelled with them on Jun/2011 by a call and a fax sent at that time since we decided to change to another procesor company.
Our accountant just notice that today 2014 we are still been charged by UMS with a monthly automatic debit amount, we didnt notice before because we thought these debits were form the new procesor, but when we confirmed, we found they weren't.
I contact United Merchant and told them the whole history, email the the proof of efax on that date and also told them that they can notice we have any transacation since that date with them, there is no service given to us since that date.
They told me they did recived the call of cancelation but they dont have the paper work filled in their sistem, so that why the still charge us, unfortunatelly the only proof i found was the efax sent to their phone on that date, but we couldn't found the content of the fax in our files.
They told me to fill the closure form again but with closing effective date should be today date, even if I cancelled 3 years ago, and that they wont refund us any money.
I belive this is negligent, I understand i have no proof, but it is no fair to be charged for 36 months after noticing there was a mistake, I belive they should at least refund some money since the debit amount reflects an additional flat rate because there was no minimum quantity of transaction in a month, ( of course there was any ) they debited $61 for 36 months, so far $2196.00 dollars.
Please help me with this matter I believe most of the credit card procesor do what ever they want with small business.
