Started going to this salon a few months ago, excellent service from Tori. I took my formula in for my color from the salon I'd gone to for 10 years. Hair turned out great. Then the day came tori wasn't there, so the manager, Sam, assured me she and Tori had the same skills and it would np be fine. First time was good. The next time, I needed just my roots of my blonde hair done and asked for just the tips of my hair to be trimmed as it was just trimmed 5 weeks before. Sam got dye on my new shirt and my hair was brown! She refused to put any highlights back I without charge. She didn't even ask to see my hair. My hair is porous and grabs color, so the color she used on my roots soaked into the rest of my hair.
People noticed my hair was darker! That shouldn't happen when you have roots done! She also cut at least 2" off of my hair. She was rough and she was careless. I was offered a 50.00 Ulta gift card, they say for my shirt, I say for my hair because I can't replace my shirt at an Ulta store. I also have no intention of going to the store again. I just wanted a refund and my shirt paid for. Tonight I found out that the formula I brought to the store, evidently they don't have. I was assured it was on file at the salon. It was the only copy I had. Not that Sam followed it, or I would still have blonde hair. I've learned my lesson, never go to a corporate store to have your hair done. Biggest ripoff ever. So I'm out 78.00 for my hair and 40.00 for my shirt.
I had my hair done at the Alliance Center salon (Saturday, February 15). I have been to other salons, and have never had any issues. After moving to the DFW area, I was in need of a new stylist to correct some color on my hair. I had just received a coupon from Ulta, and decided to try out this salon.
The first issue came in when I was asked to sign a release form. I was a bit uneasy about what was in the form, and the stylist, told me that the release form meant that the salon COULD NOT GUARANTEE RESULTS.
The second Issue: the stylist put some bleach on and worked on another client. The bleach got hot, and I mean very hot. I had to lean back in my chair to take the weight (and heat) off of my scalp. My stylist finally noticed my discomfort and had another stylist check on me. When she did, she immediately went over to my stylist and told her how hot the bleach was. My stylist spent time backtracking, saying that there was not extreme heat on my hair, etc.
I went home with hair that had to have a demi permanent dye put on it, as the top of my hair was red (from previous dye) and the bottom was blond. That is fine. I expected something along that line to happen.
What bothered me was the AMOUNT OF BREAKAGE. I have lost at least 1/3 of my hair on the bottom half. I eventually decided to call the store and see what could be done (Sunday, March 2). I tried to contact the salon manager, and various store managers kept on putting me off.
Monday, March 3 or Tuesday March 4: One store manager eventually offered me a refund, or I could talk to the salon manager and see what happened. I told her I would talk to the salon manager first and see where that took me.
After finally getting in contact with the salon manager (Wednesday, March 5), who was stuck between the manager's bidding and my issues. She put in a conditioner (Sunday, March 9) and the next day, my hair is now back to the way it was, dry and extremely damaged.
When I brought up the refund issue, she said she would talk to the store manager. The store manager then told the salon manager that SHE DID NOT SAY THAT. Your store, and its employees have made me look like a liar. Unfortunately for them, I have the ability to remember quite a bit of information, and I know what she said.
The salon manager also brought up the fact that I signed a release form. When I explained what their stylist told me, she still fell back on the release form. This would be quite brilliant-to tell a customer one thing, and when you are unable to live up to the promise you told me, to fall back on the release form that you lied about-if you could guarantee that I would never tell anyone about what happened.
The store's and its employees lied to me, and treated me like I was the liar. I am appalled at what Ulta is able and willing to do this to cover their mistakes. Only after going to social media was I able to go back to the store and get a refund. They tried to shortchange me on the refund, but I caught onto what they were doing and made sure to get a full refund.
As an update: I saw a stylist in June to fix my hair and had to loose over 10 inches.
Also, I have two stylists that have confirmed that my hair had chemical burn lines in it (the reason why the hair had to be cut off-there was no salvaging it and it would continue to break in chunks, as it had for the previous few months) and the stylist who helped me keep as much hair as possible was horrified at what your stylist did (leaving bleach in my hair for x amount of time and putting heat on it, amongst other things). In addition to these lovely facets of my experience with this Ulta Salon, my hair will have to remain at the short length that it is at for a few months while the rest of the burned hair that could be somewhat salvaged breaks or has to be cut off.
They sent me to their insurance company, where I was humiliated even further. They blamed me for the state that my hair was in (essentially, because I trusted this salon with my hair).
Please be careful. I spent many years growing out and taking care of my hair after cutting it off for Locks of Love. Now, I am left with little hair that is damaged from this salon's mistakes.
The stylist's name was Sarah, and she (as in the case of another reviewer with a different stylist) is was what Ulta considers to be a "Master Stylist"
