On June 30th, 2015, my mother and I came in to rent a U Haul. 19.95 plus insurance. Total came to 49.80. I wanted to pay cash but it's required that a card be submitted at drop off. We returned two hours later, and I paid cash. I remember that I gave him three 20 dollar bills because I didn't want to give him a 50.00 bill. Some places are funny about that type of thing, so I handed him smaller bills and put the 50 back in my purse. He went outside to check out the truck and acknowledged that the truck had a full tank of gas upon return. I smiled collected the receipt, and we left in my mothers car.
Today my mom gets her AMEX statement and 45.80 is on the bill! I tell my mom to dispute the charges, but I call the store and it rolls to a customer call center who will leave a message for the manager. I have a bad feeling already, so I hang up with her and drive down to the location. A friendly and helpful Latina woman looks me up in the computer and prints out a receipt that shows I paid by credit card!!! I point at the Asian man behind the counter and inform her that I paid cash to that man on the 30th. He doesn't say anything. I know he either does this to people on purpose or maybe he made a mistake, but he doesn't care to discuss it. So I storm out letting them know that I intend to take them to court. In the meanwhile, my mother is disputing the AMEX charges. What a ripoff. 90.00 for a U Haul for 2 hours!!!
(770) 381-9793 the truck has a water leak damage my load my tvs got wet my matresses got wet my personal item as books and records got wet then we have to returned previous the due time then file with the insurace called Repwest ins to file a claim but they were very unprofessional. it took almost 2 month to send me a check. they did it after i told then i was going to take them to court because all their trucks are really worm out all of them with plates out of state. they reimbursed us $650 of the claim that i made for $800 and the rental that it was $69 WaRO
U Haul should reverse the $118 fee that they imposed on me in 2012 or they should at least let me pay this out in partial payments. What makes me even more angry is that a year later I went to rent a truck on the UHaul web site and my rental was approved. After going through a considerable amount of trouble to get to the UHaul location I was told about this fee. The web site is giving invalid information on confirmation of rentals.
$118 in fees on a $50 rental for returning truck 20 miles from originating destination? Really?
And I was told to do this by the company.
Do you really think they could not have found someone to move this truck for $40 ?????? Just across town.
I'M ASKING ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO POST THIS TO THEIR WALL FOR ONE DAY...
I'M TIRED OF BEING RIPPED OFF BY BIG BUSINESS, HOW ABOUT YOU!?
MY SISTER AND I JUST SPENT OVER $2,500.00 FOR A RENTAL TRUCK AND CAR TRAILER FOR OUR MOVE FROM NEW YORK TO NORTH CAROLINA... WE ALSO TOOK OUT EXTRA INSURANCE FOR BOTH TRUCK AND TRAILER.
THE ATTENDANT AT THE NEW YORK END, WHILE CHAINING DOWN MY CAR TO THE TRAILER, RIPPED MY MUFFLER PIPE OFF OF MY CAR AND DIDN'T TELL US WHAT HE HAD DONE. WE SPOTTED IT HANGING WELL INTO OUR TRIP AND COULD NOT TURN BACK.
LONG STORY SHORT... I STILL CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR AFTER "1-MONTH" AND I'M STILL WAITING ON U-HAUL TO SETTLE UP WITH DAMAGES THEY CREATED!
THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE NEW PIPE SAYING THAT MY OLD ONE HAD RUST, THEREFORE, WHY SHOULD THEY PAY TO HAVE MY OLDER CAR PART NOW NEW!
REALLY, IS THIS HOW YOU DO BUSINESS? THEY OFFERED HALF OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE PIPE, ESTIMATE WAS ONLY $199.
00... THEY ARE ONLY GOING TO PAY $99.00 AND TOLD ME IF I PRESSED THE ISSUE THE TOTAL WOULD BE EVEN LESS PAID OUT!!!
I'M POSTING THIS TO MY FACEBOOK PAGE AND ASKING ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO POST IT TO THEIRS... WHO DOES BUSINESS LIKE THIS, I MEAN REALLY?
"Letter written to Uhaul below, No Response given"
I’m writing you to let you know of my experience with Uhaul. I had ordered online a 6x12 and a hitch that was to be installed on my VW Jetta.
I received a call as I was driving to the location for my hitch installation and received a message on my phone from Uhaulexplaining that the hitch that I ordered didn’t come in and asking me to call back. I immediately called back but instead of getting the location I got people in all different states saying that they were the “regional” supervision but also couldn’t do anything to get me in contact with the main office. I left my phone number and asked for a return call 4 times in a span of 6 hours and never once (even the next day) received a call back.I Spoke with several representatives who would tell me that they were transferring me to a supervisor but instead transferred me back to the 800 GO UHAUL voice automated main menu. I spent all day and all night on my time trying to resolve the issue, as I was supposed to leave that day. I spoke with a female at the end of the day that found a location that had the hitch, she told me that she was going to have my initial hitch installation location pick up that hitch and bring it to their office where I could have it installed the next day. The next day I call and find out that they Never picked up the hitch! So Frustrating.
Feeling overwhelmed and now foreseeing problems with my unloading time schedule I try all the menu options hoping someone has some heart. I finally got connected to Greg (who was the only helpful person) at the hitch center. I explained to him the important time schedule I was on and how this issues had cost me additional money... I had to pay an extra day of rent, turn utilities back on including, power, phone, water and gas. Greg took a lot of time with me and he got me a 10footuhaul truck that had a dolly for my car and he said that it would be the same price as i had originally booked on my ticket which was a big relief as money is always an issue with everyone but especially under my circumstances.
I went to the Evanston location where greg had booked me and there was a ginger haired boy there who explained to me that there is no way I could get that much of a discount. I asked him to read the notes and he said he did but even so “his manager” wasn’t going to he happy. He ended up charging me a little over my original booking ticket and to add salt to my wound said “he would throw in the utility dolly” Which was APART of my initial order anyways!.
He didn’t explain anything to me about driving with a car in tow and seemed to connect everything overly in a hurry.
Driving on the freeway I felt something wasn’t right so I pulled over and studied the way the car was connected and that’s when I find out that the hitch wasn’t connected properly. The ginger haired boy at the Evanston office looped my supporting bands in front of a tube instead of behind the tube, causing the vehicle to start fishtailing at 45mph. About 3 hours later I was back on the road.
Although Im very appreciative that Greg got me moving that day I must say that the cost of the 10footer was crazy! I ended up spending $700 on gas to get from Chicago to California with a truck less than half loaded with items.
I then couldn’t drop of in Los Angeles because I had missed my friends window of opportunity to assist. So I drove to the only place where help was, Atascadero where my mom and brother helped me. I ended up dropping off there as well because I was just So tired!
I called a few days later inquiring as to my objection to the final cost and spoke with an Xaviar who did nothing but repeat over and over to me the new added fees for the change in drop off location.
This my the worst moving experience of my life, and i’m not a spring chicken with moves. I still have not received a final decision as to my objection and would like someone of substance to get back to me.
Uhaul again dropped the ball. I booked a 6x12 trailer for a date in May for 8 am. They called and said it was only available at noon. Showed up at noon to see about 5 or 6 trailers just sitting there.. Get it set up, it shorts the lights out on my truck. Now they cant rent it to me. SO I screw around on a sunday trying to find a shop open to find and fix the problem (I didnt know it was a short fuse yet).
Incredibly luckily I find a guy to fix it, get it back for 4pm. Get a trailer set up that does not short out the fuse set up by 4:30. The debit set up does not accept my card or my girlfriends. Called the bank it was not my end at all, it was uhauls. Uhaul chages me a $60 deposit which they kept. The total for renting this POS trailer is now $920.
Normally this would be the usual bs with uhaul but I was on my 7 days off work and had to pack a trailer, then drive from Ottawa Ontario, to Calgary, Alberta (4000 km drive), then unpack it all in 4 days to catch a flight in calgary to work (14 days on).
Plus I had help arranged to pack the trailer at like 2 pm which now was all screwed up and unavailable etc etc
The real kicker was when the trailer started swearving all over the road at 60km/hr.......
It was unsafe to drive, let alone across the country and this happened at like 9:30pm after dealing with their BS all day long. I had to get to calgary in like 4 days. So I had no time to actually deal with the problem.
I left the trailer in Ottawa and drove to Calgary the next AM and paid a guy $2000 to get it fixed or whatever and to Calgary. Because I am at work up north in Ft McMurray, I was unable to help unload when it finaly got to Calgary I had to pay a guy $300 to unpack it.
So had it been on time, and working, I would have made it on time to Calgary, unpacked and had time to chill before going to work. Ultimately uhaul cost me $2300+.
I will never ever ever in my lifetime use uhaul again and I urge you all to do the same. This is not the first time they have screwed me, but this is the most severly.
I recently moved across the country. (Military) I rented a U-Haul and discovered how poor their process really is. I verified how it works via a long and reluctant conversation with the manager of the last rental/storage outfit I dealt with. Going through the "reservation" prompts on the U-Haul website results in an acknowledgement from U-Haul that has no action behind it to support the customer: Basically, U-Haul says, "Yes we see you want a trailer on this date at that location." In NO way whatsoever does that acknowledgement trigger actions that go toward the request being met. This is absolutely retarded and it's basically an unethical ruse: The online acknowledgement from U-Haul implies that something is happening on the customer's behalf that will eventually get them the product they need. Nothing is in fact happening and the situation after making the on-line request is no different than if the request never existed. The only way to get yourself a trailer is call around to different places that do U-Hauls and press them to try and find one for you. If you simply trusted that your truck/trailer would be available based on the web reservation, coincidence is your only hope. I got what I needed but with zero support. U-Haul survives on being the only provider so performance is irrelevant.
I have been a loyal customer to uhaul for years until 06/09/2014 I was in a process of moving from Florida to Virginia I call uhaul and I rented a moving truck and a tow dolly it cost me over $800, no one had told me to remove the drive shaft of my car because my car is a back wheel drive so my transmission was got fried on the way to Virginia so I call uhaul to explain them the situation,
the filled a claim and transfer me to repwest their insurance company then one week later they denied my claim, then they say it's because the contract I had sign did say to remove the drive shaft no one really read contract any more uhaul, never again, now I have to pay 3'700 for the transmission damages to get it fix thanks a lot uhaul, I just wanted to share my experience with uhaul with you guys so think twice before giving them your money, this b**** ain't loyal the only care about getting your money.
