After reading all do's and don's, I was scammed on this gas station last one heading south to chetumal PEMEX 9886, same routine attendant trying to distract you with the low tire excuse, and the sorry sir, you gave me a 1 dollar bill instead of a 20, well let me tell you guys about my self I speak perfectly Spanish and have parents born in mexico so the language barrier do not apply to me, these people do not care at all, after I noticed right away that he didn't gave me the correct amount of gas, based on the last time i bought gas at another station, i make sure it was in zeroes, didn't say anything but noticed, after I left i remember that i didn't have dollars bills only twenties, by then i realized that i got scammed twice, continue my way to chetumal thinking how i was going to get even the next day, next morning before i left my hotel i got a picture of the 20 dollar bill that i was going to use to buy gas, and before i drive inn the station i also got a picture of the odometer wish shows gas level and mileage, this guy saw me stopping again to get gas and run to serve me, i told him i wanted 20 dollars, he zeroed the pump as i was watching, i pretend to look away from the pump and he started to to mess with the keyboard on the pump, thinking i wasn't looking, as i started the car i notice less than a quart of gas pumped, so i parked my car next to the station, this guy came over asking if everything was fine, and told him yes, he then ask me than he didn't want the 20 dollar bill that i pay him and ask me if i had pesos instead,
told him no and walk away, call 066 and requested police assistant, after the police came i explain and show the police my proof ( picture of the dashboard ) and what has happen the day before, he talk to the guy and of course denied it, they put him in a police car and officer told me to follow them, in the police station some guys told me what do you wanted to do, i told them that the day before it was my word against his but today i have proof!! they called another person (judge) and explain the whole thing over, he smiled and said that the same thing happen to him a week before in playa del Carmen, he game me two options press charges for fraud or try to negotiate with this animal, the judge suggested to me to settle with this guy so I decided to get my money back.... I requested 100 dollars and a full tank of gas for me not to press charges, ( if you don't leave in Tulum, he most likely pay a fine and get release) BUT you can go all the way if you leave in mexico,..... there are lots of details but trying to not make it long... suggestions?
we all carry are cells phones or carry a camera, it only take a minute to do that, even if they zeroed the pump, stay and never look away from the pump, repeat to the person that you are giving him a bill for whatever the amount, tires and windows can always wait, there good and honest people, but also people waiting for you ....I GOT EVEN !!
