I was searching for airfare and there was a header- save 70% and $15 off your airfare if you book through an agent.
I asked if the fare was able to be cancelled as I was still searching for hotel nights. I was told that I could cancel the airfare (without penality- I asked this 4 or more times) and was told yes.
I also wanted insurance which was never added. I also noticed before finalizing that the date was incorrect. "no problem" he said as I could change it anytime prior to 24 hours before the flight.
He was very difficult to understand and kept asking other agents questions and putting me on hold.
I was still on the same sight I book and found the same requested fair for $360 - I was charged $590.07.
I had to call 4 times to finally get someone to cancel. The first email was 5:49 and I called within 20 minutes. The first thing they said was there was NO cancellations. I said I had asked that before even booking. After 4 phone calls and much discussion they agreed to refund 490 of the 590 saying it was taxes and they couldn't do anything about that.
I had clearly asked if there was any penalty. They refused to send me an email stating it was cancelled.
There is no corporate office to call. I think they are working in someone's kitchen.
So, it cost me $100 to cancel something that was $230 more expensive than the site I called from. There was no supervisor to talk to.
Do not fall into the hole I fell into. On the website it says 12 hours to cancel, the agent said 24 hours before the flight and when I talked to them they said NO cancellation.
