Let me begin by saying how completely unproffesional Valentin Villa is, both as a broker, and a person all together.
My partner and I had been trying to rent an apartment in Ridgewood, that Villa had listed on StreetEasy,
The first red flag was when we planned to meet for a viewing, and after waiting for more than 30 minutes for him, he never showed, instead the landlords came rushing home to show us the place. Valentin never made an appearance.
The Landlord told us, it would be 1 months rent, 1 security and 1 month broker fee. OK.
His over all communication skills are terrible, better yet non existent, I told him from the start that my credit was bad, and that my partner will be the one signing the lease. He insisted we both give him our information for a credit/background check.
After he ran our reports, he calls back saying now all of a sudden, the owners want 2 months deposit. (All together 8,000 to move in)
We decided to have a face to face meeting due to the clearly terrible communication. We made plans to meet at 7, to which Valentin never showed up at 7. He came almost 40 minutes late, and brought a random stranger to the meeting who just sat around in the previous tenants apartment and casually used the bathroom. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. He literally sat down for maybe 10 minutes, after which he said he needs to go because hes meeting someone else. Really?
During the 10 minutes, Valentin, with a smug look on his face, decided to question me about my overdue student loan payments from 3 years ago. Talking to me like as If I was a minor. Using terms like "Whats the deal with you not paying your student loans" in a tone, as if I was some underage brat being scolded by my parents infront of all these people. EVEN THOUGH I told him from the beginning that I wont be the one responsible for the lease.
