I own a small trucking company and leased both of my tractors to Transportation Inc, we pulled sea containers from an ocean port to the assigned delivery location, then returned the empty container back to the ocean port of origination. After Ten months I removed one tractor from the lease because of their creative bookeeping and put it on with another company. I was doing dedicated deliveries with the second tractor and decided that I would complete the agreement I had made with their broker which lasted for another four weeks. Upon my last delivery Transportation Inc. shut down the fuel card that they provided and stoped payment on my last settlement check leaving my tractor and trailer/container they were responsible for four states away from home. I sent the driver fuel money and he returned home with the tractor and trailer/container, we turned the trailer and conatiner in to the port. Transportation Inc. still owes me in excess of $13,000.00 including escrow payments, freight bills, fuel surcharges, detention time, and a check that they did not honor. I have retained a lawyer to attempt to get what is owed to me, however Utah law make that difficult. Any owner operators that are leased on to Transportation Inc. or and of there subsidiaries take notice they will not honor their contract.
