On July 4, 2015 I took my car in for an oil change and a new battery. I received a call indicating what the cost of the new battery would be and instructed the representative (L Barber, Jr.) to proceed with the installation. Upon arriving a short time later to pick up my car I was given the total amount of the charge which seemed high. After questioning the total cost I was advised that they added undisclosed service charges to the bill. I calmly explained that they had not previously disclosed this service charge and it was not fair to charge me something that they had not been disclosed. Jim Foster (the manager) proceeded to tell me that they "always charge a service fee" and it was not anything new. I told Jim numerous times that it was not disclosed and it's not fair to add on undisclosed charges. He continued to insist that they always charge a fee, which I continuously tried to point out that it was not disclosed. The other manager (L Barber, Jr. ) said to me that "you didn't ask for the total price". I rebutted that I did in fact ask for the total price and he gave it to me, exclusive of the service charge. Not once did they acknowledge that they did not disclose the hidden service charge, rather simply said that "they always charge it". They eventually became extremely confrontational with me and called me a "baby" at which time I promptly left the store. Their actions were totaly unprofessional, rude offensive, and downright criminal. They violated numerous consumer protection laws, which is why I am writing this complaint.
This store is purposely hiding service charges and not disclosing the FULL cost of a job. This is not the first time this has happened to me and shame on me for going back. BE CAREFUL of the managers at this store, and their deceptive trade practice.
TireChoice staff is not skilled enough nor trained enough to be able to properly install my new tires resulting in me having to come back 4 times. Fourth time TireChoice tried to return my car with a giant scratch on it. Then led me to believe they were an upstanding company that was willing to correct their mistake only to lie. While they admitted the damage occurred on their property they did not cause it. They did not inspect the car before taking possession of it, nor did the review security footage.
Numerous and countless follow ups in attempt to resolve this with TireChoice management only resulted in further waste of my time.
Bottom line is these guys are poorly trained, poorly supervised, by poor managers, with similarly lacking upper management. And hence their prices are high to make up for the fact that they have to do each task more than once to get it right. Maybe you'll get lucky and have a positive experince but each and every visit to this store I witnessed customers being upset. The only good thing about this store is its location -- don't get trapped. (There are ton of tire places on Dixie just around the corner)
DETAILS:
TireChoice installed a set of new tires on my silver nissan maxima ($1300). Next morning right rear tire is flat. Took it back and they resealed the tire.
Few weeks later front left and right rear tires are flat. Took it back again. TireChoice said they replaced 2 faulty valve cores (schraders). The associate could not explain why only two were replaced since all valves were from the same batch and could be defective.
Over the weekend front left tire is going flat. Took it back - TireChoice kept the car all day and advised there is no leak. I insisted they keep the car and check in the morning. Next morning TireChoice found a micro crack in the rim. They installed a spare while I looked for a new rim.
Car would not start . Road service gave me a jump start. He told me to have battery tested. Went to Tire Choice in Estero Florida. They said they could not test it did not have tester. The Battery was at least four years old, bought a new battery and had it installed. Got the bill before I paid it they told me I needed tunup and my front end was bad. I just paid for the battery and left the car was sputtering badly for a while then it was pulling dramatically to the right. This was not happing when I drove it there. I went back and asked them to have the mechanic show me the problems that he found with the car. I was told they never put the car on the lift and couldn't show me the problems. Next, I told them that the car was pulling dramatically to the right; he said that was because there is something wrong with the front end. When I told him that I had just had a tune-up and the front -end fixed and could show him the bill, he went out to look at the car and said that the front right tire needed air. I put air in the tires and the car didn't pull anymore. They took air out of the tires because it wasn't pulling when I came in. As far as the sputtering goes, I added dry gas and marvel mystery oil to the gas tank and the sputtering stopped. Obviously, they put something in the gas to make it sputter. I caught him in such a bold face lie that it topped any lies I've heard before. Stay away from Tire Choice.
