Similar to many other persons, I began this journey of ripoffs with the First Select Travel agency. After paying them money, I was referred to this agency, The Travel Center. I had several questions and cannot begin to tell you how many times I attempted to contact them via telephone. Their voicemail did not leave an option for "holding for the next person". It merely stated everyone was busy and that you needed to call back.
So many restrictions on my travel plans had been stated, I was trying to find out what would be my bottom line cost. Instead, after paying the "booking fee" I was referred to an additional travel agency. At this point, I'm not sure a vacation (at any pirce) would ever be offered. All I am doing is paying a fee (each with a different name) to an agency to get referred to another company.
I thought this would be a reputable company since the original information was supplied through my school district of employment. I was so excited that I could visit my children that live out of state. Instead, I have lost more money and still do not have anything in place to visit them.
Can anyone do something about shutting these ripoff companies down? In reading the reports, I'm not the only person who fell prey and I'm sure I will not be the last.
Please do not engage in any transactions with this company.
Here's how the scheme works:
They contact you with the enticement of Free Travel or a cruise.
When you don't sign up you still get the offer, BUT
You must pay $ 138.00 membership.
Then the waiting game starts, first you don't hear from them because they "lose" your documents.
Then when you finally speak to a person - note they don't give any phone numbers and you must fax all information.
They tell you that "all" promissed travel is for off-season and yes you can guess it, your destination is ALWAYS "in-season".
When you ask for a refund, they give you a third party - an Google E-mail address. I guess they can't afford their own e-mail server.
We have faxed, e-mailed for over three (3) months - looking for anything that looks like service- NOTHING.
Again - do yourself a service and stay away from these "scheisters".
I received a fax at work, just like the other report said and for some reason figured it must be ok if it was comming to my job....Yeah, stupid me! (Lesson Learned). I started the process of booking an all inclusive vacation back in October and 3 months later i was STILL waiting to even BOOK the vacation!! This process is RIDICULOUS! I was asked if I was able to give a 90 day notice back in October and I said yes, we were looking to go in February for my parents 30th Anniversary. Here it was 3 months later and I had yet to here from any travel agent to book this vacation. I asked for a refund to The Travel Center who said they have NO record of $1006.00 paid! They told me to call First Select Travel who is the company I called from the fax flyer and they in turn told me it was not their problem that I had to call The Travel Center, which by the way is the SAME building with the SAME address but they claim to be 2 different entities. Neither one is taking responsiblilty for stealing my money. Then there is Fun Time Vacations who I paid $100 deposit to with again, the SAME address who hasn't even responded to my emails or requests for a refund. So now I am out $1006.00 as well as a vacation.
I sent $69 each for 2 people for to reserve a supposed free 1 week cruise plus airfare. I heard and received nothing from this outfit, and after several weeks I finally emailed them to find out what was going on. They claimed that they had sent vouchers for the free cruise/airfare, but that it had been "lost in the mail," and because that wasn't their fault, I would forfeit much of my registration fee. When I balked, they said I would get nothing.
Beware of "free cruises." They will cost you dearly.
We receiveD the fax at work and we thought it was too good to be truth and we jumped on it, call the 800# and payed over the phone with a check because they didn't accept credit cards or individual checks they wanted all the money at once. They were going to send a voucher and then we were going to be able to book, we did received the pkg with a promo code # and another 800# where they requested yet another $69 per person to activate the voucher, at this point I got suspicious and did some research on this company and look what I found! SCAM all the way we are not going to go anywhere with them they are not answering the calls and Amy the person we talked with is in meetings or out for the day etc we get it now...
Scam
