WARNING BEWARE THIEF'S **THE SHOP** in Henderson. These guys are true Crooks for real. Someone placed a Business card for an auto repair shop on my windshield while I was in walmarts shopping last weekend. Ironically my car started acting up the next night and then the check engine light came on. I thought what could be wrong cause I have never had a problem with it before. My car was out of warranty and I never needed a mechanic with it so I had no idea as to where to take it. I looked down and there was that business card for "The Shop"... So I took my 2007 Chrysler to these guys on a Monday. They said they just opened up and were a fair and honest shop. The place was nice and everything looked new except the bathroom... that is another story in itself. The mechanic (Neal) there said he would be glad to diagnose the problem to have a seat in the waiting room/office so I did. I filled out some paperwork and sat and waited. There were a few other cars there and even a nice looking motorcycle in the office so I felt like these guys know what they are doing. Boy was I fooled. After 15 minutes of waiting this young mechanic Neal came into the office and asked the other guy who seemed to be the boss there (Alex) to step outside in the shop area with him. They both walked out and shut the door behind them and started talking with their backs to me. I tried to hear but could not. Then they both came back in the office and Alex the boss guy started to tell me that there were some serious issues with my car's evap system and that if left unfixed it could easily mess up my motor beyond repair. I was shocked and asked them what exactly was wrong and more so Why it was happening and caused it. Then the mechanic Neal jumped in and started spurting off some mumbo jumbo about the fuel system injectors, O2 sensors and a catalytic converter as well as the evap system being compromised (all of which made no sense to me). What did stand out was that the boss guy Alex said that he has seen a lot of Chrysler's with this problem and that it is more likely then not a way that the dealers make extra money after warranties run out with the Service Departments. He also said I can take it to the dealer and it will cost me over $2000 to fix the car or he can fix it all right there at the shop and save me $1000's . I asked them exactly how much I was looking at and Alex told me that he would cut me a deal because he wanted to earn my business. He then sat down at his desk and started adding things up and looking things up in books and when it was all said and done he looked at me and said that it would normally be $1996.33 but he was discounting the costs down to $1100 to win my repeated business. I was shocked totally. First off ,,, I did not have $1100 to throw into my car right now. Secondly, why was this happening to my car all of a sudden, it just did not make any sense at all. I have never had a single issue with my car and always serviced it with oil changes on time and even the factory tune ups as scheduled since the day I bought it new. Neal kept chiming in that if I continued to drive the car as it was then the motor would get ruined as well as the ECU (I later learned he meant the on board computer for the car). I told them that I needed to go home and check my bank account and decide what to do. Then Alex told me that if I needed time to pay for it that he would work with me and let me set up a payment schedule. I almost bought into that but something was just not right. They kept trying to get me to pay them a little down now and even discounted the total bill another $200 and insisted that they would start the work immediately and even get me a ride home. They both agreed that they could have my car back to me the next day good as new. They wanted $350 down and payments for the balance. I came so close as I said but at the last minute I said I have to think it over and let them know. That is when Alex seemed to get all short with me and said with an attitude "whatever, mess up your car if you want" and said I owe them $75 for the diagnostic charge and if I bring the car back within 2 days that they will apply the $75 to my final bill of $1100. I asked them what about the $200 extra discount you just quoted me and Alex said it does not apply because that $900 price quote was for the work to be started there and now. I paid the $75 and left. When I was headed home and thinking it all over staring at that Yellow Check engine light that was glowing bright, a radio commercial for Auto Zone came on and it was advertising that they diagnose check engine light problems free. I said why not and headed over to Auto Zone. I asked them to check my car out... they did and it showed a code that the attendant said could be fixed with a $12 new gas cap. They reset the check engine light for me and I bought the cap and here it is 4 days later and my check engine still has not come back on. I called The Shop and tried to speeak with the boss Alex but he was always busy or not there and the person that answered told me that I needed to speak to Alex about any type of service refund. This went on Several times but was unable to get him to come to the phone personally. Finally I called from a friends phone and got Alex on the line and told him about the gas cap and asked him for a $75 diagnotic refund since they mis-diagnosed my car issues. Alex got very rude with me and said that the code was only cleared and that the problem is still there and there is no refund owed to me period. I then went back to Auto Zone and told them what Alex said and I asked Steve the Auto Zone Clerk if the problem was fixed and he went out and scanned for the codes again and nothing showed up. Then Steve asked me if I drove the car a lot since the cap was replaced and I told him about 30 to 45 miles daily and that was 4 days ago. He said the code would have popped back on if the problem was not resolved. So the story is clear... I gave The Shop $75 for nothing but untruth and worries. They were trying to get over on me and it was just wrong of them. When I caught them at it and pointed it out they got alll defensive and told me that they were not giving me a refund and that they wanted me to stop calling them that they reserve the right to refuse me service. WARNING BEWARE THIEF'S **THE SHOP** ALEX AND NEAL in Henderson are CROOKS... You have Been Warned. I am going to the NV DMV consumer's reports to file a complaint on these guys and THE SHOP.
