I was on freecycle.Com and saw they had many laptops and Ipads for free and just had to pay shipping. They had pictures and a lot of information. They only accepted amazon payment. Once I purchased the gift card, I thought it was sketchy that I was sending money without proof of this package being sent. It was too late. At that point, they stopped responding. They spent the money instantly. I then Google the number and found other reports about them scamming. I'm so glad they dont have any of my legit Information.
There was an ad on freecycle.org (West Palm Beach) stating that there are free laptop computers, ipads, and notebooks available due to the company receiving new electronics/computers. The email claimed "items are not for sale, delivery charges are for those in need of laptops or ipads and can not come for pickup." A payment on amazon.com was to be made to cover delivery charges via amazon giftcard.
Payment for gift card was made to: [email protected]. I sent the payment on April 16, 2015 at 2:03pm (EST) and was redeemed immediately on the same day, April 16, 2015 at 2:07pm. A follow up text message and voicemail was sent to the number listed: 843-620-0932. They claim there are too many calls to handle so "pls text or leave a message as soon as you place order."
