A player and myself got heads up in the tournament after playing 12 hours against 70+ players. We agreed to split first and second place for a $5,500 prize each. The host, Shari Arnold, said we would get our prizes in a couple days and congratulated us. She asked for us to give a little extra to the staff since we won. I gave an extra 300.00 and the other player gave an extra 200.00 before we left.
We never heard from the host/sponsor, so we called several times and she was either out of town or busy. After 12 days she met with us and gave me $2,750 of the $5,500 prize and the other player $2,500 of the $5,500 prize. She said she would give the rest in 30 days.
We both followed up with her on July 15th for the balance of the prize. She did not reply. I followed up again on July 18th and she got short and said to not contact her again. She told the same to the other winner. She has blocked me contacting her on FB and will not return calls or messages to provide the donated prizes.
I contacted the charity, Heal in Comfort for a Change, that was listed on the event. They said that the host told them that the event was a loss and they did not receive our donations from the event. They confirmed the received 0.00, which the event should of had $14,000 raised to help the charity. I had at least 10 friends play this same event and can confirm the number of players, the cost and the charity.
She ran another charity poker tournament this past Sunday in San Antonio. The charity was Wish for our Heroes: https://www.wishforourheroes.org/
The winner also did not get the full donated prize and not sure the charity received anything either.
She is running a charity event on 8/31 to benefit the charity that our tournament was for, Heal in Comfort for a Change, again. She may be doing the same thing again. Shari, who owns, FAB, has been running events the past few years and not sure if the charities are getting their proceeds.
Here are the most recent 4 charity poker tournaments that she has hosted to benefit a charity.
