Received call on my home phone on 1/14/15, person calling self "Joseph Smith" represented himself as calling from Microsoft technical support, and since I had just signed up for technical support services directly from Microsoft, I thought that it was too coincidental not to be legit. Using scare tactics he told me that I had numerous viruses/problems and that I had to fix them. He proceeded to tell me I needed their service or my computer would crash. They convinced me to pay for it to the tune of $289.00. It did not install easily, so they told me to restore my computer to day 1. Fortunately I had cloud backup. Once that was done I got nervous enough to uninstall it, and requested a refund, which they did issue. However, they proceeded to then call me several times about the installation or about problems/viruses in my computer, again on my home phone. I really felt threatened and insisted they stop calling. I called Microsoft about the matter, and they were aghast.
I noticed another complaint on this website stating that a "Justin Smith" from Tech PC 247 had called them. I think they are fraudulent since they represented themselves as from Microsoft technical support, and used scare and harrasing taactics. Beware!
