This is the absolute worst dealership i have ever dealt with. This dealership is full of employees who are rude, lie to you and difficult to deal with. We went to sun in august of 2014 because they mailed us a "pre-approved" letter. When we met with the salesman he basically wouldn't show us anything except the 2014 camry even when i told him it was more expensive than we would like, he said "they could make it work", we spent hours with him while they tried to put a deal together and when they couldn't make the numbers work after almost 4 hours Plus an hour drive there) we left but not before our sales rep dan bateman got an attitude with us and became extremely rude because we wouldn't "try the high payment", seriously, they asked me to just try making a payment i said i could not afford. Fast forward to march 2015 where i get pulled over for having a "stolen tag" and come to find out that they transferred my tag before we even signed any paperwork and then never transferred it back! i called and left messages for someone to call me back, no call back. Then i call and get donald in accounting on the line and he is rude with me, the person who was treated like a criminal for a mistake he made. This is one of the absolute worst dealerships i have ever dealt with, i would never recommend them. I have told everyone i know to stay far, far away from them and i will continue to do so. Save yourself a lot of trouble and headache and go somewhere else. I ended up buying a car recently from crown kia and they were amazing, a completely different experience and it went so much better than with sun.
I was called for getting warranty on my car with unprofessional customer service and demeaning attitudes! No apologies for their rudeness. I wouldn't recommend buying or dealing with them at all.
Sun Toyota is not an honest dealership. I traded my 2003 Corolla that I had for 11 years for a 2013 certified used Corolla. First they told me my 2003 wasn't worth anything and I only got 2500 for the trade in. They said they would sell it at auction. Then I found my cars VIN number online at Sun's used lot for 7000.00. I was lied to about the trade-in value. Second, the 2013 has very loose, very dangerous steering. This is a problem I have found while doing research online, with the 2009-2013 generation. There are many many complaints and an investigation with the National Highway Traffic Safety board. I do not feel safe in this car. At high speeds, the car steering is tight then loose and is intermittent. The steering is not smooth and skips as you turn. The steering wheel gets jerked when going over bumps or pot holes. Even changing lanes across different pavement grades jerks the steering wheel. Coming back from Orlando on I4 was a horrible experience having to drive at these high speeds in this car. I beleive this generation has a problem with the way the speed sensitive programming was done. I called the man who sold me the car and he said he would set up an appointment for a check but he never called back. So I made the appointment myself and told them my experience. I was told to ask for the manager Steve. When I went there I spoke to Steve and my concerns but was told I need to get used to the new electric power steering. That I needed peice of mind and that they will check the allignment and go from there. It was very condescending. I asked him if there were problems with the computer programmed power steering and he said there would never be problems because it isn't connected to the internet. I asked out programming bugs, not internet viruses. I don't think he knew I am a software support technician, Comptia security + certified, or that I sell security solutions to healthcare organizations that have to comply to security HIPAA standards. Anyways, it was completely demeaning and I believe I was treated that way and not taken seriously because I am female. I was also in the Navy and worked on H3 helicopters so I'm not That dumb. Then, a service tech came out and said there was nothing wrong with the car, that it was "drive able", and that it is "performing as designed". Steve the manager never came out to talk to me again and the service tech litterally gave me the keys and said "have a nice day". No. A car is not supposed to jerk the steering wheel when you are driving it, or hard to keep in your lane. I test drove the 2014 S model at Sun that day and the LE model at Clearwater as well and all of the 2014s steering is wildly different from the 2013. I also drove a Honda at Ocean with EPS and it is wildly different. So instead of trying to rectify the situation, I'm told I have to pay thousands of dollars more for the 2014. I think they knew d*** well the 2009-2013 generation had issues with the steering and instead of owning up to it, they made me feel like I'm the idiot. Then today, I go to toyotaowners.com and there is the service history in Sept of 2013 for the previous owner of the 2013s VIN that I bought, and she claimed that the steering wheel was loose and wobbly at high speeds. It said the technician test drove it and that it was "operating as designed". So the previous owner had an issue with the steering wheel just as I did on the same exact car, but I was made to feel like it's just a matter of getting used to it, I was blown off and ushered out the door with no explanation, no paperwork, nothing. I had my 2003 for 11 years and told everyone and every female to go with Toyota because it will not break down Now, because of the way I was treated and the quality of this car I will not. If the customer tells you that the car feels unsafe, the worst thing to do is patronize them and tell them there is nothing wrong with it. Now, I am without a safe car to drive that will immediately depreciate if I trade it in somewhere else and I am out the amount of what my orginal 2003 was worth.
Buyers beware!! This place is a rip-off! We found a used car we like online at the Sun Toyota website under "Pre-Owned." We entered our information to be contacted. The next morning we got an e-mail from Phil Stinson, stating that someone would be in contact with us soon. We got a call a few minutes later and were set up with a 1:00 pm VIP appointment with a "VIP Manager." (Their words, not mine, meaning not just a regular salesperson)
We arrived time. We were greeted by a salesperson and told him we had an appointment with the VIP Manager. He said, "Oh, that's just me. They give that to me. I'm the VIP." We were like, "Okay." He did not look like a VIP Manager. We told him about the car we wanted. He could not find the car we wanted and had us wait in the hot sun. He eventually grabbed a golf cart and took us around back to the repair bays.He had located the car. It was in a repair bay and had a cracked windshield and a smashed front end. The salesperson said, "Well, it looks a little rough." It was not a car that could even have been legally registered to drive in Florida, due to the damage. We complained about the condition of the car and how it was not even possible to register it. We told him we wanted to speak to the VIP Manager. He drove us up to the office and said to wait outside and have a seat on the bench. It was 86 degrees and felt like the low 90s. He left us out in the heat as he scrambled to find someone who would talk to us.
After ten minutes, a "manager" (not a VIP Manager) came out to tell us that they had another car for us "with less mileage, in around the same price-range." We asked where the car was. He stated that "they were trying to find it." We waited another ten minutes and still nothing. That is classic bait and switch!! We were furious and said we would never buy a car from them and drove away!
First of all, they buy junked cars and fix them up!! We saw it firsthand. Don't trust them when they say the car has NOT been in an accident previously. They will not tell you about their repairs. Don't trust CARFAX. They have very limited knowledge of a car's history. I bet the CARFAX on the car we saw would state that it was "clean."
Do NOT go to Sun Toyota. They are a rip-off and bait-and-switch dealer.
I received a great offer from Sun Toyota with comparison to several dealers in the area. Pricing was great but they kept changing pricing to give me the illusion that I am saving. Even the car that I wanted, was sold, so they can sell you a higher car to make more profit, margin wise.
I went through financing, I was told that I was approved for financing and with the girl that kept talking to me in a such a sweet tone (Most sales people will do that), gave me another side of her which to me sounds like a true hypocrisy. She passed me on to Paul. This guy must not know anything about etiquette at all. Can you imaging that he hung up on twice.
I caution you to take your business else where. These guys are thieves and the city gives you where you heading: Holiday! wow...Go to this dealership and see the pricing you get and when you ask for financing so you know what you getting, see what sort of 360 they will run on you.
Word of advice: RUN AWAY AND DO NOT BUY. Yes, they will tell you there is no DEALER FEE but I promise you, they will screw you in any way you can and what is so sad, is this Paul is a sales manager and to hang up on people, not only is this unprofessional but it tells you, you are playing with fire and they will NEVER get you anywhere and good luck to you starting a legal battle with these guys.
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Trust me, it was NOT fun and I challenge this Paul or anyone from his organization about these practices and the services I received.
Go anywhere but Sun Toyota and you will be happy you did.
Take your business else where! Read other reviews and see other reviews online. You will eventually realize, this is more what you bargained for!
