I also replied to a Facebook advertisement and I had a very positive experience with my account manager at Student Loan Resolve and I had to reply here with all these people ripping the company. I was able to get my payment from 290 a month down to 49.90 a month which is a fee I am paying student loan resolve for getting me a zero payment plan on my loans. They signed me up preety quick through my cell phone but that night I took the time to read my contract and I realized I could do this for free but I did not want to hassle with it and knew what I was paying for and where the fees where going. Someone said they have 26 complaints so out of curiosity I went to read some of them and as I knew it they were all mostly all like the ones here, which is basically people not taking the time to read a contract they signed and then they feel they can just hall off and rip the company. What a shame... It's not the companies fault for someone being irresponsible by not reading something they signed. Get a grip people. Overall my experience with Stundet Loan resolve was positive.
I found this same company advertised on Facebook saying there were a loan forgiveness company. The lady I spoke to told me they were able to lower my monthly payments and not have to pay off my entire loan. They told me if I didn't consolidate my loans, with monthly payments and interest, I would end up paying back $40,000 on my $25,000 loans. And I would be eligible for an IBR plan. They made the deal sound really good until they asked for my banking information and when they asked me how often I get paid. Silly me, I gave them my banking information and told them I get paid bi-weekly. Little did I know that they were charging me installments of $60+ for a one time fee that totaled up to nearly $500. And afterwards, I would be paying $49.50 after the fee. After careful review of that packet something just didn't feel right so I decided to do some homework on this company. I went to the BBB website and found that 2 complaints were filed against them, that they were not accredited, and they only been in business for two years! I then came across Ripoff.com and found some complaints there as well. So I immediately submitted a cancellation request and hopefully, I get a response soon. Because I refuse to do business with a so called company who makes deals too good to be true. And I refuse to pay $500 to have my loans consolidated when I had them done for free in the past.
Student Loan Resolve called me after I clicked on a Facebook link that said student loans could be forgiven. I spoke with an advisor who said that if I did not consolidate my loans with them I would be making payments of $353/mo for 300 months. If I used one of their probrams using my 2013 tax return info I would pay $192.56/mo for 300 months. The last "program that I qualified for" was the income based program, and if I consolidated my loans through Student Loan Resolve my payments would only be $49.90/mo for 300 months and she said I would save $31,690 off of all of my loans because of Obamas wonderful programs and my interest dollars would not be accruing.
This is not what the contract says!!! The $49.90 is a fee that Student Loan Resolve drafts automatically each month for 300 months on top of four payments of $124.75! All fees and nothing put towards the loan!!!! I was told that the $49.90 was the only money I would owe on my loans. The truth is that the contract is highlighted stating that the $49.90 is a fee and is not put towards any part of the loan.
I called back the same day and inquired about this and again I was mislead and told that the $49.90 is towards the loan and that the Student Loan Resolve was a completely legitimate company. I slept on it overnight and when I had access to a computer I did some research and found a similar complaint on Ripoff Report.
I called back again and spoke with the same person for the third time. After 40 min of hold, transfers, hangups, re-dialing, I finally was able to speak with a supervisor who began to talk in circles to keep me in the program. I saw on the website that I was allowed to cancel within 3 days and I would not be charged for anything.
I was assured that I would not be charged and that I would receive an e-mail stating exactly the same information (proof on cancellation). She said I was informed incorrectly because the person I spoke with was new.
You are able to do a loan consolidation program for FREE through the department of education! I had even asked if there was a fee free program anywhere and was told "No".
I have not seem my e-mail come through yet saying that I am cancelled from the program.
I clicked a link on facebook advertising student loan forgiveness programs on june, 2014. Shortly got a call from an account manager, they went trough a lot of personal questions covering all details about my new loan application. They called me three days later to tell me that i was approved and that they will full pay my loan to nelnet, they also told me to pay 223 every two weeks of processing fee because base of my income they could drop down to $49 my monthly payments during 300 months. After that time they will forgive the rest of the amount i owned. I was happy because base on this new program they will forgive 55000 dolars and im only needed to pay on time my 49 monthly to be avail to keep myself in the program. Like a month an a half later, my loan with nelnet was paid in full and i said, waoo they are for real!!!... But like two month later, i received a letter from navient stating that i was was late in my student loan payment. I said: it is not posible, i have been paying my $49 for two month already! i realize bach in that time that navient is my real student loan, they didn't pay off my debt, they sold or transfer my loan to navient in the same amount. Navient told me this company was an scam, many students are in due payments because of them and i started doing my research for scams. I was a little concern because i never sent any income docs and how they made that changes just base on my word? I just found in, 8 cases reporting this company and i feel in the responsability to do something about it. They are stealing money from the goverment by lying students about what they do. They are not paying your loan, they are not adjusting your monthly payment base of your income. They are lying and stealling. Now they are trying to change the story and they are not refunding the money they took from my account base of their lies. Please, help other students and avoid them to be another victim. I paid 1000 in total, by 200 victims Students) this company will be millionaire in a year, and this money is not their money, is the goverment money for student loans. I know that maybe is late for me, but i can't be in silence knowing that right now somewhere is another student been a victim of a fraud or an scam from this fake student loan resolve company! please help students and guide the money to the real owner... I clicked a link on Facebook advertising student loan forgiveness programs on June 2, 2014. Shortly got a call from Robert McCray from 1-888-316-2711. He said that I would be paying $100/month for 3 months & then could drop down to $50/mo for the next year. Then my payments would go to their regular amount of $89/mo. It would take me 10 years to pay off my $6,000 student loans. He gathered all of my initial information. I then had email contact with Debbie Selby on June 3 at [email protected]. I emailed her my 1040 tax form & banking info. By the 17th or so, they withdrew the 1st $100 payment from my checking account. Another payment came out in July. The 3rd one is due to come out in the next couple of days. I've not spoken to anyone since June 3. I've gotten no information on my account with them. My student loans haven't been touched at all. Debbie's email no longer works, nor does the information email listed on their website. Their Facebook page now lists a different phone # of (877) 974-2622 & email of [email protected].
I should have not ignored all obvious signs of a Scam!!! You have to leave a voicemail message to contact them directly, they get your information up front, try to convince you to sign a contract within 24 hours, and charge monthly fee for a service. Needless to say I'm out of $500+ with no service given! They claim to consolidate your loans for you withint 60-90 days which leaves you to believe that you will need to pay a monthly fee except nothing gets done!
I feel so stupid. I am stupid in this case. Do not ignore all the Fraud signs!
Should have followed my 1st instinct when attempting to deal with this company, but I ignored it because my friend recommended the company. Now I know she was just ripped off and doesn't even know it. The first clue was the bogus looking website. The second clue was when I finally called the company and the person who answered sounded like a salesman sitting at home in front of his television.
This company purports to help get your student loans forgiven or drastically reduced. The problem is they offer the same programs that you can do yourself through the department of education for FREE. They DO NOT disclose this. They act as if they are offering something you don't have access to. I was offered an IBR which is an income-based repayment plan. Look it up. You just need to contact your loan provider to apply. It's FREE. Student loan resolve wanted to charge me $699 for the pleasure of letting them do it. On top of that I was told that my monthly IBR would be $49.90 per month. Call me stupid, but that does not make any sense to me. That is the same amount my friend was offered with them. We have two different loan amounts, but the same payment??? Seems like there is just some type of fee scale they use. I call bogus.
Before I got off the phone with me he practically begged for my checking account number, said he can't draft the contract without it. When I got the contract it said $49.90 was a monthly service fee. Why would the $49.90 be labeled a service fee if it's going to the department of education? Then right below it stated the department of aducation monthly payment would be $0!!! What?
Here is what they did: An IBR is based on you income. If you are not making enough your IBR can be as low as $0 per month, and you will not be in defualt of you student loans. What happened in my case was that the IBR qualified me for $0, yet he was charging me an $49.90 fee over a 25 year period even though the department of education would be getting zero. But he mislead me to believe that the $49.90 would be going toward principle and interest.
I did a follow up on the Better Business Bureau's website regarding Student Loan Resolve and now they've had 26 complaints filed against them within the past few months. That number has yet to climb because everyone agrees on one thing........they are a scam.
