I received a $25.00 promotion for signing up for their webmail.
I noticed they had a $100 discount for FUTURE purchased of Lois Hill jewelry for every $300 you spent. But you could only use it $100 for a $300 purchase in the future. No problem. I spent $829 which should give me 2 of the $100 certificates...I had an item for $329 that I wanted to purchase. I didn't receive my certificates and did the online help! They informed me that because I used the $25.00 certificate I received for signing up online, I would not be eligible for ANY OTHER promotions. This is EXTREMELY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! The $100 certificate should not have any bearing on the $25.00 that they sent me for signing up for webmail. Two TOTALLY DIFFERENT situations! STAY AWAY or be BURNED as I was...NO more purchased at Jareds and I will spread the word!
On December 12, 2014 I purchased a pair of 14K gold ear rings, I was very reluctant cause last year at Jared's Jewelry store I also purchased a pair of sterling silver ear rings and they turned a tarnish color. I applied the gold ear rings to my pierced ears on the same day, December 12, 2014 in front of Jared's Jewelry store before I left to go home, the ear ring on the left side I was having a hard time getting it secured and clipped, but I thought I had I secured. I lived 2 hours from this store, sadly to say by the time I had ran some errands and got home later that evening the ear ring on the left side was gone. So I paid $129.00 for a pair of ear rings that where only worn a few hours. I am sick to my stomach but cause I did not purchase the extended warranty they will not replace the ear rings never again will I spend another dime in that store.
My boyfriend and I were incredibly excited to start looking for engagement rings. Because of Jared's advertisements we thought it would be the perfect place to start our search. Unfortunately, Jared took what should have been one of the most exciting experiences of our lives and left us feeling taken advantage of.
Our salesperson pretended to have our best interests at heart- he told us many times how "Jared is different, we care about our customers, provide quality products and want you to be happy."
We clearly explained to our salesperson that Jared was our first stop and that we planned on visiting many jewelry stores to shop around. After looking at diamonds and settings we were asked by our salesperson, "While you look at some of our different payment options would you like me to see how much you two would be 'pre approved' to use for financing?"
My boyfriend and I didn't seem interested but our salesperson let us know, "Hey it only takes 3 minutes- and this way you will have a better idea of what kind of ring you can buy here." We agreed and signed a paper- that we were told was in order to "Give him permission to check our credit"
Little did we know, until we went to another jewelry store and found a ring that we loved, that the salesperson at Jared had me sign a Jared Credit Card application. He opened a $3,500.00 credit card in my name without even once mentioning that he was going to, or had opened it. Because of this, I was unable to open a card at another location in order to finance the ring that I truly wanted.
We were shocked and frustrated with the fact that someone could replace the words "do you want to open a Jared Credit Card" with "Do you want me to see how much financing you would be pre-approved for?" and not have any ramifications for misrepresentation.
The salesperson was able to make a commission of off getting us to open a credit card- but right then and there, he lost any ability to make commission from selling me or any of my friends or family members anything from Jared.
To reinforce the fact that Jared is a complete scam and rip off- we found the same carat weight, color, clarity and cut diamond at another location for less than HALF of the price!
Trust me, don't get clouded by all of the bells and whistles- Jared is in to scam you- rip you off and not even think twice about it!
I bought my wife's wedding set in 1991 in at Goodman Jewelers in Lacrosse Wi ( Store 0165 ) and my wedding band also.
We regularly had them inspected every six months to keep up the diamond guarantee ( how phony I realize it is now) up until 1993 on my ring and 1998 on hers. I lost my original wedding band in 1993 and had to buy a replacement at Goodmans store 0165 in 1993 and still had that one inspected until 1998.
By 1998 Goodmans had been absorbed into Kay Jewelers and we had to have my wife's wedding set re soldered because the center stone came out and was lost with the cheap 4 prong setting it was in. It was changed to a six prong and re soldered in 1998 and clearly marked on the repair ticket , no charge, our merchandise "yes" and then the inspection card was filled out by the Kay rep and she had handwritten that we bought it in 1991 and what work was done with a description of the ring.
Despite this documentation being scanned and sent to Kay Jewelers corporate headquarters as proof that we bought this set there and our hopes that they could tie this work ticket from 1998 , that clearly had to have been verified at the time as tied to a receipt of purchase in their system from 1991 to do the warranty work for free......I thought anyways! .... and my request to have our diamond guarantee and inspections reinstated, I was still told that Kay Jewelers cannot honor any warranty or continue our inspections unless I can produce my original receipt , which I have already told them I have lost. It's been 23 years. I lose things.
I have learned a lesson tho. If you deal with reputable jewelery , they maintain records and accommodate customers rather than use every loophole possible to squirm out of warranty obligations. There isn't even anything wrong with our rings either, that's the kicker. They just are not reputable in my book if they won't even honor their warranty when I have prroof of the last work order in 1998 clearly showing that it was purchased at their store in 1991 and fixed in 98 under warranty. My wedding band that i bought in 1993 , for myself, that never had any work done on, I'm just stuck with no warranty too now....because I have no documentation and they claim to have no records either, how convenient.
The local jeweler in my hometown still has records from when I bought my wife her first seiko watch YEARS AGO! I will stay out of the mall from now on when I buy any jewelry . I've learned my lesson! Buyer beware! If you want service after the sale , consider where you are buying !!!
