LIES, SCAM, DECIEVE, if you deal with Stephen Wade those are your choices. I can speak from experience since they did all of these to me. Let’s start with LIE I took my car in to be checked out because the brake warning lite and low fluid warning came on. I left and returned and asked David O. the service advisor what they had found, he started by saying that the brakes on my car were NOT original equipment and that whoever had installed the NEW brakes had not tighten some nuts enough and the fluid had been seeping out at those nuts and that was why the low fluid light had come on. He then asked for $60 I told him that I had an extended warranty and he said since they were NOT original equipment that it was not covered. I told him that I had not changed the brakes so as far as I knew they were original. We discussed it some more and he finally lowered the price to $37 which I agreed to pay so I could get out of there, but I told him I was not happy and that I was going to let someone know.
I took my car into a local brake shop and asked if they could tell if these were original equipment brakes and they said yes. So they removed all my tires and inspected the brakes, they found them to be original equipment. Like I said LIARS.
Next let’s go to DECIEVE when I bought my car I also purchased an appearance warranty called Perma Plate they didn’t tell me but several months later I found out after reading the contract that they needed to spray my car with the product to protect it. I had filed a complaint with the BBB that included this warranty issue, when the General Manager Ken W. Lynch responded to my complaint the reason he gave for them not spraying my car was that they had set up an appointment for me to bring the car in on Sat. at 8am on 8/30/14 he also stated that the BBB could see by looking at a copy of Google calendar they had sent to the BBB that it had been scheduled on that day.
I responded to this as follows. This is a total fabrication by Mr. Lynch first of all I paid $399 for this warranty why if I didn’t show for the appointment wouldn’t I call and reschedule after all I don’t have $399 to just throw away. Second I have worked at the same job for 14 years and my days off are Thursday and Friday so why would I make an appointment on a Saturday when I know I have to work, instead of making the appointment on one of my days off. And last but not least I bought the car on 1/14/14 why would I make an appointment more than 7 months later. And on top of this Mr. Lynch fabricated a document to make his story more believable. How is that for DESIEVING?
And now SCAM. This is how it happened to me. At no time did anyone saying anything about a warranty called Auto Shield Theft Protection to me. So when I was going through my paper work from the purchase of my car in August I had no idea what Auto Shield was and I had no idea when I had signed the agreement. At first I said shame on me for not paying closer attention to what I was signing, but then I started to check into it and I found several complaints on line that sounded almost identical to my experience. So that is way too coincidental to be anything other than a SCAM in my book.
If after reading this you still do business at Stephen Wade, don’t act surprised if they take you for a ride and clean out your pockets will they are. Remember BUYER BEWARE especially at Stephen Wade.
