Springcom Telephone Company has a complete monopoly on the entire Springport area. They pay competitors to stay away. They charge outrageous fees for their terrible service. They force you to purchase either a phone line or a cable package along with your internet. You can't even buy the basic cable either, it has to be their "expanded service".
I have their most basic DSL, claiming to be '10 MBPS' which costs about $70 a month. According to the many speed tests I've conducted, the best I can actually get is a measely 1.8 MBPS. I can't even get Netflix or Youtube to stream the lowest quality at this speed. It's just the slightest upgrade from dial-up.
The worst part of all this is, due to their unrelenting, mafia-like stranglehold on the Springport community, we have absolutely no alternative for terrestrial internet. And I use the internet for recreation and personal use, as well as work and income and finances, like so many others.
