This foreign academic credential evaluations and translations company has a nice little scam going.
First off, you can't talk to anyone over the phone ever, either number (Houston 713.266.8805), (New York 646.475.2570). When you call you get two prompts, neither of which will get you to a live person, only a recorded message stating you need to go to the website. First red flag, right?
For the service they give you the pricing for the evaluation and verification, BUT only state "you will need to pay an extra fee for us to translate it."After you pay the steep evaluation and verification fee, and after you send them the documents, THEN they tell you how much the translation fee is. The translation fee is more than the evaluation and verification fee. It more than doubles the price of the service. Why are they coy about this "extra fee"?Not wanting to pay over double of what I originally agreed (and paid) I emailed them to cancel. Below is their response:
"As it turns out SpanTran does not offer refunds. Please refer to the application which you submitted. This policy is clearly listed under our important terms and conditions. If you wish to cancel the order we can do so, but we cannot offer a refund.
