John Mcdermott owns spaces to live( space hunters). he operates like this: he posts his ads on craigslist, backpage and am ny. he lures in customers by posting ads with room rentals and studios all through out the boroughs. The customer contacts him after having to deal with listening to a stupid recording detailing usless instructions about getting a pen and writing directions down to his office. After following the prompts you are than finally directed to Mr John Mcdermott. John will than ask you to come into his office because remember if you actually listened to the recording you would hear that his office is much to busy to handle walk in clients. After setting up the appointment Mr mcdermott collects his "finders fee" but wait he will demand you wipe your feet off on his matt. Mr mcdermott will than ask you for your social security number, type something into his computer and finally hand you a paper with a phone number that will bring you to a list of available rooms. The part that makes his job completely wrong? HE DOESNT HAVE ANY ROOMS OR STUDIOS! I tried reaching out to John again. The first time he said a woman updates the list and she had not done so yet. He told me to check the next day. The following day I checked the list, NO NUMBERS. I called John again and this time he told me the only thing I would be able to do is to take him to small claims court which means he knows how to cheat the system and hes been through this before. John mcdermott preys on the innocent people of ny who are in a rush to find a place to live. I found multiple reviews regarding mr mcdermotts scummy business practices on various webpages after I began searching for info regarding him. below are some links. This man needs to be stopped.
