Southwestern Eye Center Reviews

Then received additional bill in mail for another 190.00 - And to top it all off the two prescriptions I received were incorrect and I am back to wearing my old glasses. Mind you I paid only for prescriptions - I filled the prescriptions at Costco.

I was told via the phone that this place accepted my insurance, so I made an appointment. I was interested in getting gas permeable contact lenses and also a prescription for eyeglasses.

I went to my visit and filled out the necessary paperwork. I had my eye exam. They offered to dilate my eyes but I thankfully said no. Otherwise it would have cost me even more. They never informed me prior to my visit that I would be expected to pay $170.00. They never told me they do not take my insurance, I was under the assumption that it was covered by my insurance.

I paid the $170.00 and was told that I could bill my insurance myself. I left their office very upset. And I didn't even get a prescription for the gas permeable lenses. I was talked into getting a prescription for soft contact lenses instead.

I filled my prescriptions that I received from Dr. Palmer at Costco. I was having difficulty with the contacts immediately and kept trying to wear them, but they were way too blury and made me dizzy. Also my eye glass prescription is not correct either. The prescription is too strong and I cannot stand wearing them. I am back to wearing my old glasses.

I received another bill from them for an additional $190.00. I called them and explained my dilema and the girl on the phone did not care and said that this happens to consumers, and how would I like to pay? I even told her that both prescriptions were incorrect and I did even get the gas permeable lenses prescription because Dr. Palmer talked me into soft lenses!!!! The lady did not care and did not offer for me to come back in - not that I would have; but really, they do not care if their patients get a bad prescription.

I filed claim with my insurance and they did reimburse me $155.00, so I was happy. However, I do not understand why anyone would go to a facility to pay $360.00 out of pocket without using insurance! With my insurance I typically would pay $90.00 for two prescriptions;eye glasses and contacts, so why on earth would I want to pay anything more!

Most places inform you of the cost you are about to endure, but this place is shady and Dr. Palmer obviously doesn't know how to correctly do an eye exam and he does not listen to his patient's needs or wants.

I am really hoping they will write off the $190.00. Also it would be good for them to let the patient know the cost prior to their appointment.
