I went to download Spybot S&D and before I could download the software this site popped up representing itself like it was the download portal and that I had to enter payment information, like in case I decided to use additional services they have available later for a fee. Then after I entered the information it said that it was $18.99 per year for a 3 year subscription. I didn't think that was a lot of money, but then I looked at the Spybot site once I was able to start the download, and it said that it's software was free of charge. I looked at my bank information and it showed that Softwarepros.com charged me $88.82, approximately 5 times the amount it quoted. So the next morning I contacted my bank. I have to fill out fraud paperwork with them, file a police report, provide them with a copy of it and then, they will give my money back. Meanwhile I called the number provided on the charge with the bank for Softwarepros.com.
They have it set up so you cannot speak with a person at all. It's a cheesy sounding british accent lady voice, which sounds electronic not like a real person. I left a sternly worded message about their fraudulent activity with my contact information and they sent me an email more than 12 hours later saying that they received my message and that they were going to refund the money minus the $9.99 processing fee. So Beware of these guys. I'm also going to report them to the Spybot S&D people. I'd much rather make a donation to them than pay these hacks who live in Ohio, but have a Fictitious Name certificate in Florida to try to cover their tracks.
I also was able to get the home address on the two prinicpals the husband and wife in Ohio, for anyone who wants it. David A Shullick, North Ridgeville, OH , ; or David A Shullick, ., North Ridgeville, OH ; . Could be another smoke screen.
On 1/15/15 I 'thought' I was purchasing a version of Avast Anti-Virus software. After I went through the choices for the version and additional protection, I was charged $70.94 on my credit card. The download only included the 'free' version. I received an email from Software Pro's thanking me for my recent subscription to Software Pro's and that as a member I will have access to the finest software downloads available....what???? I am not stupid nor am I new to computer's and the internet. This is not what I 'clicked' on.
I went to their website and signed on. the only thing available for me to download is the 'free' version I already have. Of couse I called the phone number on the email. Completely automated. I did send an email to their support email but don't expect much.
I'm not embarassed to say this is not the first time I've been scammed online. Now since the laptops are not being fitted with DVD drives, all software has to be downloaded and the consumer needs protection from these scammers.
I am so tired of these greedy internet snakes that I am going to pursue this until I get a full refund and would like to join any class action suit that will try to put them out of business. Shame on them.
1/18/15: purchase made for Adobe Photoshop CC Software; 1/20/15: disputed purchase and requested refund which was within stated refund policy of 3 days after purchase. Requested refund via several emails (as indicated in refund policy) - sent request to [email protected] on 1/20/15 and several times thereafter.
As of 1/27/15, I have received no response to request and no refund. I attempted to reach them via telephone, (888-769-380-8887) and I was sent directly to voice mail where I left a voice mail asking for a follow-up call back but no one has returned my call. I also submitted several inquiries on their website as well - no response! I have maintained all documentations of my inquires/refund requests. I want my money back!!!
The purchased software was never downloaded and I should not be forced to keep this, especially given I requested a refund within the guidelines of their supposed refund policy. The refund policy states "Once you submit your order for processing, any unused products or memberships purchased are refundable (minus processing fee) within the first 3 days of your membership." My refund request was made within first 3 days!!! No software was ever downloaded!!!! I want my money back!!!
My bank account was charged $67.74. Per Software Pros website - "All refund requests can be made via email to [email protected]. Any and all refunds are subject to a non-refundable $9.99 processing fee." Given this statement on Software Pros' website, I should at minimum receive a refund in the amount of $57.75!
Like many other victims who have been scammed by Software Pros, I was supposed to pay $16.95 for a one year subscription for SpyBot Search and Destroy. Checking my credit card statement, I find out that have been charged $88.82. Using the phone number--866 550 4161 and softwarepros.com , I was not able to contact the company.
The company for SpyBot Search and Destroy is Safer-Networking Ltd--908 Town & Country Blvd, Suite 120--Houston, TX 77024. They still offer SpyBot for free--donatr if you wish. It seems like Software Proa are using the SpyBot name to scam SpyBot customers/users----What a shame.
Same, Avast redirected me to them. I thought i was getting a year of Avast Pro for $2.49...i thought it was an insanely good deal! Until i tried to pay my bills the next day- i was charged $64.99. I still had 2 bills to pay AND gas up my car. That $64.99 was just enough to coast me to my paycheck. Now i don't know what i am gonna do, theres no way i will get that money back in the next few hours that i NEED it.
The bank told me to contact the vendor before they could start a fraud assessment, but the call number gives you 3 options
Software Pros,is a company that has made a living on offering a product, and billing a higher price than agreed, when you request your refund; they keep $9.99, this is how they make their money. They don't lose.
On October 16, 2014, I ordered what was supposed to a $16.98 software program download from software pros. I was instead charged $99.98 and didn't receive any download.
I call the number provided on my bank statement and left information with the automatic system like instructed. They said they would get in touch with me within a day and they did not.
I then went to the website and submitted paperwork to be contacted on this issue and two weeks later I have heard nothing from them.
I looked for photoshop on the internet. I found software pros, who offered it for $18 dollars. I was billed $100 . The system has not been downloaded and iI cant contact them.
I was trying to order Avast Antivirua and and found it advertized at $24.99. I clicked the link thinking I was going to Avast site, so, Iplaced the order. Received an email receipt right away from Software pros advising me I was charged $85.99.
I tried to call them to no avail; they never had a person to talk to; i left a message asking for a refund; they declined after many attempts claiming I downloaded materials off their site which is a lie; i never downloaded anything. I reported them to my credit card fraud dept' hoping to get my money back.
Software Pros is a SCAM; they have a British=accented answering system so they might be located in England.
I had my laptop repaired and the repair shop put Avast on my laptop. I never liked it and tried to delete it repeatly but it said file was corrupted and I could not delete it. I thought that if I downloaded it again then I would have a uncorrupted file I could delete. I could not use any other virus program because Avast blocked it and made my laptop run very slowly.
I searched for Avast on Google and went to what I thought was a Avast site. The full program was around $16.00. I was ok with that because I have been putting up Avast popups for a long time and wanted to find a way to get rid of it. I clicked on the link and somehow was sent to the Software Pros link; without my knowledge. I still thought I was with Advast. I downloaded the program. At no time was I informed of a $99.98 charge. I did not accept the charge. I did not enter my credit card information. I suppose they got that through Google. I received no receipt. I just happened to notice the charge on my bank website.
I got on their website to tell them I did not want their program. I never heard of them and have no idea what they offer. Because I clicked on the popup that I thought was from Avast and I signed on so I contest the bill they said they will not refund the money. I had almost $100 stolen from me by these ripoff artists. Beware
I was needing to get security software and wanted to get the free version of Avast. I used the Bing search engine and thought I clicked the Avast website. I filled out the information without noticing I was not on the correct website. When I realized my mistake, I immediately looked for the contact information and filled out the form to request refund. Since the information was for membership and not purchase of Avast I was logged into the site when I filled in the refund request. Because of this they refuse to refund the $93+ and when I further requested that they remove me from their site and all my personal information, they again refused.
I am still insisting my information be removed, but all they keep replying is that I will not get a refund!
I thought I was purchasing 3 years of security from Avast for what seemed to be a good deal. I believed that I was on the AVAST website since it looked exactly as it had when I did the free trial for the software. I was instructed to log in with my email address to download the program that I thought I had just purchased and was then redirected to the Software Pros website. Once I logged in with my email address I began to realize that something wasn't right. I then looked under the Billing portion and emailed requesting a refund, and also called the phone number which gives the illusion that you will speak to a real human but is actually a ridiculous loop. They responded to my voicemail by email telling me that since I logged into the membership I was not able to get a refund. The amount charged to my account was for $99.98 which is not what I thought I was spending in the first place. I did not download the software, and after getting no assistance from them I started looking into it further only to realize that the software that they were giving me to download was the FREE Avast trial not even 3 years worth of security which is what I agreed to buy. They still refused to give me a refund even after I replied again with this new information. I have since found numerous complaints of similar experiences that others have had on here, and only wish I had realized it sooner. I have contacted my bank, filed a fraud charge for the amount, and cancelled my debit card as well. I hope that with all of these complaints something is done about this crooked company!
I downloaded a free copy of Avast a antivirus and in other to do so I had to provide my debit card information and a day later I noticed a charge in my bank account for $99.94. I sent a note to billing support disputing tha charg and requesting a refund and this what I got.
Dear Freud,
We apologize if you misunderstood the website billing, but you were properly charged. Your billing details are listed below.
50.96 for the 3-year membership. It is 16.99/year, but as stated on the site it is billed as a one time fee.
19.08 for the download accelerator. This package gives you the fastest download speeds possible for the length of your membership.
29.94 for the download protection which gives you access to any new releases or updated versions that come out during your membership at no additional cost.
We hope this clarifies the membership fee you selected. If you need changes made to your selections or any further assistance with your account please reply to this email.
I went online to purchase AVAST! PRO for my daughters laptop. I have been using avast for more than ten years. I typed AVAST into my browser, AVAST appeared, I went to what I know was AVAST website and purchased AVAST pro for a two yeare period of time. I paid through PayPal.
I purchased AVAST via paypal and was expecting to receive a link providing me an avast key code so that I could use to unlock and register avast. I went to the software pro email thinking that avast was using a third party to send out key codes. There was a link provided. I clicked on the link and saw that avast was downloaded as well as several unwanted programs onto my computer. I deleted the programs I did not order or want, then I tried to unlock avast, but there was no key code. I sent a note to avast asking them for a key code and they told me they did not know what I was talking about and to return to the site from where I bought avast.
I was sure I purchased from the avast website, but just to be sure, I sent an e-mail to software pro requesting a key code for the avast software I had purchased. I received an email telling me that my purchase did not include a key code. What I received was avast ""free"" that I can download for myself from several different sites as well as the avast site, and several junk programs that I did not want or need.
I contacted software pro and requested either a key code or my money refunded. They refused telling me that I had been to thier site and downloaded their programs and that was that. I told them that they claimed my purchase was time limited, if they can time limit my purchse, that I did not want in the first place, except for avast pro, they could cut the services and refund my money. They refused.
I filed a complaint with PayPal. PayPal contacted software pros to try to get them to refund my money. Software pro still refused. I filed a claim with PayPal and am waiting for the outcome.
Stay away from these people. I do not know how I ended up at their site purchasing avast pro. I went to an avast site and ended up at software pro. if you are purchasing anything on the internet, make sure that the place you purchase from is actually the correct party. DO NOT go through a third party.
Pay attention, do not assume that just because you clicked on a specific site that your computer took you to that specific site.
These people are crooks, cheats, liars. If they were legit, when I asked for a refund the same or next day after purchasing, they would have provided a refund.
Stay away from them. If they cheat you, turn them in, report them, do not purchase directly from your credit card, go thorugh paypal.

Fraudulent Billing!
Charging money for free software since downloading free software negated the possibilty of getting a refund.
