Bright now! dental offered me financing through smile brands - which used to be affiliated with bright now but the link no longer works. They damaged a tooth. I stopped using them. I paid for the services in full and they continued to take money out of my bank.
Smile Brands continued to take money out of my checking account after services were completely paid for. I am in the process of trying to get this money back.
Here's the short version: They make up dental problems that you don't actually have, give you a outrageously high estimate for treatment you don't need, then use scare tactics to try to get you to go through with it.
Here's the long version:
Back in April I passed by this place and saw their signs for the deal - $29 for a cleaning and checkup (or something like that). It sounded good, and since I had not been to the dentist in a couple of years (I lost my insurance), I thought I'd try it out.
Well, they took some xrays, and came back telling me I had 8 cavities! 8! I haven't had 8 cavities in my entire life. And being as how I brush my teeth 2-3 times and floss every single day, I found it really hard to believe my teeth had decayed so badly.
But it didn't stop there. They brought over a "nurse" who "specialized" in gum issues, and she checked out my gums. Long story short, they told me my gums had severe recession issues, which I've never had before. But listen to how they did it... She came over with a thin ruler for measuring the depth of the gap between my teeth and gums. Right before she started she told me "Ok, the scale is from 1-6, and healthy is 1-3. So we want to hear all 1-3's." She then proceeded to take measurements of my gums, saying the numbers out loud. And, wouldn't you know it, the measurements were almost all 4-6. Why would you tell a patient any of that before you do the exam? That's a god damned scare tactic. These people are scumbags.
The "dentist" then comes over and gives me an estimate for the work. $2500. Apparently, I have 8 cavities, and am in dire need of a deep cleaning for my gums or I might lose several teeth. Then, they tried to sign me up for some credit card to pay for all of this.
I didn't buy it. I went back to my previous dentist and got a second opinion. 1 cavity! $200! That's it! And I was still a little nervous about my gums, so I went to a periodontist who told me my gums are perfectly healthy!
Bright Now! Dental are a bunch of lying thieves. They are scam artists, preying on low-income people who don't know better. DO NOT GO HERE.
And if you're an employee of this place, you should be ASHAMED of yourself.
