Donna I have been trying to go on a trip for more then a year. May I get some help please? Linda Urrico 310 739 7948 I am not good on the cp. Please call
Went to a seminar. Was promised free airfare, rental car and two night stay at a Marriott For attending.
had to send a money order and fill out travel request form to where and when I wanted to go. Was told my money would be refnded. I was to hear from them 30-90 days before travel date. Have heard nothing.
when you call, all you get is a recording. I called Marriott head quarters last year and was told that this was a scam.
My husband and I received via US mail an invitation to attend a presentation by Beyond Expectations November 2013 at the Hilton,Hotel, Fort Collins, CO. As a reward for attending the presentation we were to receive a free 7 day cruise and 2 R/T airline tickets. After the high pressure presentation we were given a certificate called Premium Gift List Vacation Selection and told to go online at choiceselectioninc. com to receive our vacation certifiicate.
Instructions were "once you have received your "certificate type" and "claim code" send your $70.00 money order which corresponds to our gift selection certified mail to Choice Selections, Inc. This was called a "redemption fee". This company promised delivery of our gift selection info in 4-6 weeks.
We then received from Smart Travel and Incentives "travel vouchers" for a seven night cruise and one for 2 R/T airline tickets with a page of instructions that included the paragraph:" all assignees are on notice of the consumer's right to cancel under section 559.933 Florida Statues. Smart Travel and Incentives is a registered "Seller of Travel" with the State of Florida registration #38366.
We filled out the information with our requests for travel following their instructions to the letter to avoid any surcharges and to accomodate all the restrictions listed and sent via certified return receipt requested US mail our requests and a check for $99.00 REFUNDABLE deposit. We are now sitting at $169.00 of our money out the door for a "free vacation"...one can't help but feel embarrased and naive.
Almost a year after the presentation, we received an email from Donna at Smart Travel ([email protected]) on September 29,2014 with an offer of a 7 day cruise for $818.04 minus our $99.00 refundable deposit= $719.04. I responded to Donna saying we declined their offer and would like a refund of the $70.00 and the $99.00 deposit. She responded by saying she had no idea what the $70.00 was for. I find this very strange as we were contacted by her company only after we sent the $70.00.
After calling numerous times I spoke to a guy named Travis who said that their Accountig department received our request to cancel and that it would take 4-6 weeks to return our money. We received a check for $79.00 on October 29th with a letter saying they deducted $20.00 "activation fee". Isn't it a little late for an "activation fee"? I am so very angry and wish I had the $ to take out an ad in every US newspaper to expose Beyond Expectations and their scam along with the two companies listed above. I am willing to go along with a class action suit if anyone of you are willing to do this. We are embarrassed that we played into their deceptive business.
Isn't what they do "mail fraud"? Shouldn't the US government be notified that they are using the US postal service as a vehicle to defraud people from all over the US? I know many are saying, "Well, there is nothing ever given ffor free and we all should have known better" but that is not an excuse for this to happen. Imagine the amount of money they take from honest people if only one of the 12 couples who attended the presentation falls for the sham as we did?
on April i sent Money orders one for $100 another one for $50 to Smart Travel & Incentives, Inc as they request, i should received round trip Airfare & Marriott stay and three days rental car with Enterprise or Alamo rental Agencies.
today is Oct 20,2014 i didn't get nothing from above company, i keep calling them all i get is records.
i don't know what to do i wish if they return my money back.
My family (2 adults 2 children) were given a voucher for a stay at an Indoor Amusement Park for attending a timeshare conference. I had to mail in the order form with the voucher and a money order. I orginally called Smart Travel because I wanted to make sure that I was sending the money to a legitimate company and they went over that I needed to make sure i did not send a personal check and it was money order or certified check. The woman never stated to send it certified mail. Therefore I sent the money order and voucher in on September 3, 2014, now on October 6 2014 I received my mail back with a VOID stamp on it that says because it was not sent "certified mail" that the trip cannot be honored. Their return envelope has a letter inside and at the closing there isnt even a signature just "Smart Travel & Incentives" typed with a different address than the one I sent my mail too. I than called Smart Travel to speak with someone that could clarify my confusion and I get a rude woman stating that it was in the small print what the regulations were. (Now mind you my son has been getting the mail everyday after school waiting on the return mail so we could book the vacation and now this??) I tried explaining to her that on the original mail in form it just says to mail form to.......... nothing about ceritified mail and she cuts me off telling me there is nothing she is going to do so I than ask to speak to her supervisor and she says, "I am the supervisor" so I assured her that I am certain that she has a supervisor and she told me that she could try to transfer me to her but "her boss" would just put her back on the phone. I knew than that I was just getting a run around!! Its a shame because if all was well we were going to look into using them as a travel agency because we do traveling twice a year and are need of a new agency but it is evident that customer service is not where they specialize at.
I should have listened to my husband, "you never get something for nothing".
We suffered through a travel club presentation to get our free airfare/hotel 3 days 2 nights anywhere in US. A full page of instructions, sent in with application fee and was sent an "offer" form to pick out 2 travel dates 60 days from application date and 45 days between each choice.
I sent in the application fee of $100 plus $50 for car rental voucher. Twice I was declined because travel from NYC JFK to Palm Beach International or JFK to Fort Myers International was "not available". I subsequently picked out several future dates, only to be told "not available". Not sure why they determined the second date (45 days after the first date- and quite far in advance) was not available.
The third time, the letter state I was in "breach" because Palm Beach International was not an airport used in this offer. What????? So why didn't you tell me that the previous two times?
I wrote back telling them they are a sham of a "travel agency" and demanded my refund, as they clearly had no intention of fulfilling my "free airfare/hotel" package."
