I canceled my membership back on March 2, 2014. Every month payments were automatically taken off my debit card through paypal. After cancellation, 2 more payments of $23 and 1 payment of $27 for insufficient funds were taken out. I contacted Paypal to block Six Flags from any future withdrawals from my account. I also called and spoke with 3 customer services reps at Six Flags who all assured me that my funds would be returned back into my account after review.
I checked my account on May 13, 2014 and realized that only 1 payment was returned on April 29, 2014. I called and was told that I WAS NOT getting the other refund (membership fee of $23 and insufficient fee of $27) because I have 45 days after I request cancellation for it to actually be canceled. So, since it was within those 45 days that they withdrew funds, I'm not entitled to get it back.
None of the other reps indicated any of this to me before, so now I'm out of $50 that someone was not authorized to take out. I got the membership over 2 years ago, so I have no way of knowing if this is the case. It is stupid and unfair, that they can just go into anyones account and take out funds after its canceled.
I monitor my finances very closely which is how I was able to identify this scam.
My wife and I bought our gold passes last year under the auto bill program that was heavily promoted on their site and run entirely in-house. Sounded like a good idea to make our trip more affordable at the time.
The origional cost of the 2 passes was: $259.98 6/3/2013
monthly payment 30.83 6/6/13
monthly payment 22.84 7/8/13
monthly payment 22.84 8/7/13
monthly payment 22.84 9/6/13
monthly payment 22.84 10/6/13
monthly payment 22.84 11/6/13
monthly payment 22.84 12/6/13
monthly payment 22.84 1/6/14
monthly payment 22.84 2/7/14
monthly payment 22.84 3/7/14
monthly payment 22.84 4/7/14
monthly payment 22.84 5/7/14
monthly payment 22.84 6/6/14
Total amt charged $304.91
The scary thing is that these charges keep re-occuring, though the balance was paid months ago. I have yet to have the problem corrected by 6-flags Magic Mountain, Valencia. Im sure that if I am having this problem, countless others are undoubetdly also being overcharged on their old passes! Beware the park financing.
