In Sep 2013, I purchased a $250 custom cosplay/Halloween costume from Sherryval (Sherryval, Imogen, SherryImogen) while she was selling on etsy. Sherryval agreed to ship costume in time for Halloween. After failing to ship the costume on the agreed date, there was no way it was going to arrive for Halloween. She also said she had actually shipped it but was returned to her. This turned out to be a lie as she admitted never having made costume.
She agreed to refund me, but stated that she was having financial difficulties. I agreed to delay the refund and work something out where she could maybe make another costume for an event in Feb 2014 as I did not want to cause her extra stress.
In Jan 2014, I found out that I was not going to be attending the event, and contacted Sherryval for a refund. She said she could process the refund, but to give her a few days as she had cases open on her etsy account and was having trouble (she is no longer able to sell on etsy). She said she processed the refund on 3 separate occasions (all lies, no transactions were initiated). After several weeks of different excuses and outright lies (processed refund, not sure why it didn’t go through, thinks her “card” was compromised so her bank stopped the transaction, etc.) she stopped responding to my e-mails.
I was able to contact her at her new site (sewsmitten.net) and the seller was openly hostile and refused to refund me, stating she shouldn’t have to foot the bill for my mistake (I paid her for a costume, never received anything) and that she does not do refunds. As of Apr 2014 I still do not have my refund. My belief in her multiple lies caused me to be unable to report this to etsy, paypal or my credit card in time to initiate a chargeback.
