Tax Stop still up to old con tactics. I've read several reports on them here and on the BBB ratings, but they are a couple of years old, but if you think they stopped, no such good news. They are still up to their same deceptive practices. I paid them $2,000 last April, 2013 to resolve file an offer and compromise and reduce my tax liability. They take your money really quick, but then do very little to actually help.
In my case, the first thing they did is enter an installment agreement with the IRS for an excessive amount that I clearly could not pay, and without ever notifying me, I found out when I got the installment agreement from the IRS. I made one call to the IRS ""myself"", provided my financial information and some documented proof they requested and they quickly reduced my installment payments by almost half.
Then they disappeared for months. After repeated emails and calls finally communicated with me, but all fluff, they did nothing for months, they always have an excuse about something I did or didnt do, but they do nothing. Now come around 2014 guess what, they want another $1,700 becuse now of course 2013 is due and they have to add that in the offer, but they cant unless I pay again.
I ask myself what in the world would make them think that I would dish out more money to them for doing nothing, then it dawned on me, this is what they do for a living, take money for little to no services and people who are stressing out wiht problems, like me will pay it in the hopes that they will help, but all they do is create confusion and add to your problems.
I had used them over 9 years ago and they were under the name Denver Tax, believe me its the same people - just different names. Chip Reeves is the worse one of all, I shoudl post his last email to me, but saving it for the day I can afford an attorney, hopefully I have the money to sue them before the statute of limitations runs out. Gordon Hummel is the one that may have the actual licenses, he signs the power of attorneys, but you never hear from him, and when you do, its more of the same. There has been not one single call with them that did not turn into confusion and distress, this must be their tactics.
They have a person now named Victoria and another named Christine Mertz, they are either related to them or dont have a clue they are working for these unethical, possibly con artists, but they are the ones calling customers on their behalf now and asking for more money. Hopefully they get out before they get caught in their web.
Anyone who has recently also been ripped off by Tax Stop, Chip Reeves or Gordon Hummel, contact me through the ripoff report, I am interested in at least looking into whether we would have a class action lawsuit against them. Maybe not, but worth a try to at least make them stop ripping people who already have problems off.
