Santander took two payments out of my account at one time. I had $320 in my bank account for Santander payment and $300 in my bank account for graceries. Santander took $644.83 out of my bank account. I called them on Tuesday when they took the money out of my account. They stated that THEY had made a mistake and would credit my bank account the other $300. They stated that they saw that the wrong amount had been taken out of my account, but that they needed further proof. They said that I had to go down or call my bank and get them to fax over a copy of my bank statement that showed both transactions being taken out of my account as further proof. My bank did not understand why they needed further proof than what they were already seeing with their own eyes, but the bank complied complied.
I called Santander to make sure they got the fax. Santander said they did and it normally takes about 24 hours for them to credit a bank account. But it is possible, but not likely, that it can take up to 72 hours (Cody). That was on Tuesday. I called back on Friday (more than 3 days later) and let them know that my bank account had still not been credited the money. I told them that I needed to buy groceries on Tuesday, but they took my grocery money, so I could not do that. I told them it was now Friday and I was still unable to buy groceries and I had small children in the house. They seemed unaffected by my circumstances and just told me to check again on Monday, if it still wasn't credited to give them a call back.
So because of THEIR mistake, my family is going without groceries for a week. This is rediculous!!!!!! They should not be aloud to get away with this. I have had other companies mix up things (it happens) but they credited the money back while I was on the phone with them. In 35 years of paying bills, I have never had a company make a mistake and it take over a week......who knows could be more.......to correct the mistake.
