Rural Metro was called to a location, where I had carbon monoxide poisioning,(I was told by them) I asked to be transported to a hospital that was 10 miles from my location. I was told by them that that location did not have any hyperbaric chambers and that they were instead going to transport me to St Josephs hospital in Tampa. When we got to St. Josephs hospital they told us they did not have a hyperbaric chamber available. The ambulance people then told me I was going to e taken to Tampa General, where they did have one available. When we got to Tampa General, I was never even put in a hyperbaric chamber.
When I returned home the next day, I called the hospital that I had asked to be taken to, and they told me that on the day and time, that I was being transported, they had had (5) hyperbaric chambers available at that time. I now receive a bill from Rural Metro for 1034.00, because of overmileage that was not paid by my medical carrier. I have written them several times for a response as to why they did this. I have never received a single response to my questions. They now are trying to put this on my credit report, which I am currently disputing, but if that doesn't work, I have been told to go ahead and file a lawsuit.
