My name is Candice and I own Cain Casting & Talent Management in Brookhaven, NY. I have 280 people on my talent roster. You can imagine my surprise and dismay when I learned that Rocket Talent Search was calling several people on my talent roster to solicit them to become clients. NOT COOL. This is considered poaching. I called the number for Rocket Talent Search that one of the concerned parents gave me, and the woman that answered the phone told me that she was "just an appointment setter" and wouldn't tell me where she received the child's and parent's information.
This is absolutely frightening. She also told some of these parents that she could "get them on Disney and Nickelodeon." Absolutely NOT. The only way someone can land a role on Nickelodeon, Disney or any other channel is to audition for it and EARN the role. My clients felt that they were a talent agency, which they certainly are not.
It is very disappointing that there are companies like this out there that will prey on parents that just want to help their kids get ahead.
I received a phone call the other day from a women named Jenna, she told me she found my son in a "database" when they were searching for a specific type of role they were casting and he popped up a few times. Having gone though this before with "talent agencies" (UdevelopMe in Deer Park, NY) I was originally assuming the worst when she first started explaining but the way she worded her presentation on the phone had me thinking otherwise. I accept the interview hoping for the best.
As my super excited son and I walked down behind a building into a small office we were greeted by the ever so cheerful receptionist, who ended up being the same receptionist that was at UdevelopMe, funny. Since we were there I thought to give it a shot maybe it was different. After filling out the paper work the receptionist asked me what cell phone provider I had which was so unrelated and weird to ask.
While my eager son and I waited in the waiting room, Tim Scott presented himself for a brief moment. He was buttering us up by telling me how beautiful my son is, he was the best looking kid he's seen in a month... which I already knew was true ;) Cracking jokes between the receptionist and trying to include my son and I in the conversation, it all seemed so fake.
The family before us was finished up and had left empty handed, their appointment time was short. Tim Scott then called us in to his very intriguing office, sweet smelling office filled with all these pictures of "prior clients". He then asked why I haven't began my son in modeling yet in which I told him I have looked into it but it was not an avenue I wanted to go down. My son being as smart as he is then explained it was because "they expected us to pay thousands of dollars up front for nothing and it was ridiculous" Mr. Tim Scott snickered.
He asked me to flip through his binder of "prior clients" just like UdevelopMe had done as well when he then said he was stepping out of the room to refresh his coffee, similar to our exprience at UdevelopMe. As I was reading the "emails" that were sent to him from his "prior clients" I noticed they were all very generic, repetative emails.
Tim Scott then came back into the room, starting off with "okay, this is how it works" he informed me that we would be taking the photos today and would receive them Friday, he then introduced his "package" list of pricings.... after seeing my reaction he told me he would take some off of the prices because I'm a single mom. Just because I was curious I asked when the payment was due, he said right now in full. I then asked him why he thought anyone would be able to drop up to over a thousand dollars without expecting when they walked in? He was confused about why I was starting to get so upset. No one informed me that I'd be spending money, or that this interview was about starting a talent package for my son. Jenna informed me that the position available is what my son would be interviewing for. They tricked me to get us to come in and I was very sure to let Mr. Tim Scott know of how I felt about his scamming process.
As I started defending my son and my own feelings toward the situation, we both had tears streaming down our face. My son was so let down and will probably not be motivated to do something he had such a passion for again. While I was expressing my feelings to Mr. Tim Scott he was very belittling and very condescending towards me. He said "why would you come here thinking it would be free? Nothing in life is free" while snickering. I let him know that they weren't being honest when recruiting people to come in here, but that honesty is free.
There were many more things that were said between us, and how I felt towards him scamming innocent people. What it comes down to is that Tim Scott is rude, belittling, condescending and inconsiderate. It's just money in his pocket and money out of yours. Please don't fall for their scam, don't ruin your childs chances with his negativity. I'm not sure how Tim Scott sleeps at night but I'm assuming he tosses and turns because of the thoughts of all his wrongs done to people on the filthy expensive bed he purchased with the money he scammed innocent people with. If he has done this to you I'm so sorry. The number one rule is that they work for you, when you get paid they get paid.
P.S. UdevelopMe was a talent agency opened after some of the people of the New Faces talent agency were arrested for fraud and scams, we interviewed with one of the women who went jail for it.
After reading this it's disgusting to hear that I just went through the same thing yesterday. I paid it had the picture taken but couldn't sleep last night thank god it was just yesterday I just called the credit card company and put a complaint and put a stop on that payment disgusting. Thanks for the info.
This review is accurate. My daughter and I were mysteriously called out of the blue by a male representative from phone numbers 631-771-1301 and 631-621-5507, claiming to have never seen or scouted my daughter but that her name came up in some fake data base. After doing some online research I found out that the same person Trans or Tras is the same person we dealt with at New faces and City Model and Talent. They keep calling using different business names but the address is 1 Rabro Drive Suite 11 and Studio 1B in Hauppauge
First of all... I came in with my son after receiving numerous calls from jen to come in about a acting gig for my son. After asking them how the found my son they replied that they had found him on a online database which is werid because my son has never acted. Before meeting Tim Scott AKA TRAZ i saw him coming from the resturtant which was already a bad sign i still continued to meet with him. After waiting for a half an hour i realized the same person that walked from the resturant to the office was actually Tim Scott. Once talking to him i could smell the alcohol from his mouth was trying to convince to buy the most expensive package. I refused because obviously he was drunk telling me nothing is free and could tell it was a total scam. The recent replies are in fact from Tim Scott himself defending his SCAM/FRAUD OF A COMPANY. After speaking with jennna she caved in on how much she hated this company and working for it. Then told me on how many people they do this to on a regular basis and actually changed company names from Titan/Rocket. This Company needs to be shut down and they all need to be arested for fraud. PLESE DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS AND DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!!!!!!!!
Clearly this person does not know that she needs a RESUME & PORTFOLIO to get a JOB in acting business. When you show up without one any Director is going to try and help you by offering you the right tools-for a price. Nobody is going to do ALL of that work for you for free. Rocket posts their SUCCESS stories daily on their facebook of real people.
