Rich and Robert quoted $1650 for all-in on cost or machining work to remanufacture/rebuild engine (from working vehicle); knowing make/model/year info. 351 Windsor from 96 ford bronco with 220k miles and main problem is engine leaks(no loss of power or noises); just an older engine. Upon cleaning/inspection the price changed to over $2200 for no reason. They said it costs more for roller cams which is understandable... (But they already knew that this make/model/year comes stock with roller cams.) Now they want to charge nearly $200 for 'cleaning' and inspection. I will be logging complaints with the better business bureau, social networking sites, and anywhere else who will listen. .
They also quoted a 7 day turnaround but failed to contact me after 6 days beyond drop-off. I called them and they said they would be working on it and let me know. They didn't call that day nor following 3 business days. I followed up four days later and they still did not have the estimate (cleaning and measurement done). Then they sent the information about 11 days beyond drop-off. Clearly failed to meet their own estimates on service time and cost both nearly 50% over their initial promise. Who knows what the cost would balloon up to if I had them do any more 'work''. I recommend to stay away; clearly dishonest with no integrity of their work, talk, or actions. I ended up buying a remanufactured engine online for nearly 25% less than their cost with triple the warranty.
p.s. I have text/call/e-mail; and time-stamped confirmation of all of these details logged and saved.
